Filling tanks takes WAY too long..
My new tank.. 175 Oceanic Bowfront.. Started filling on Sunday morning.. (Saturday was spent under the house bracing the floor.. lotsa fun)
Still cant turn on the pumps because the sump hasn't filled yet.. 100Gallons per day rating on the RO unit.. dont beleive it.. :) <sigh> |
It took me five days to fill my 130 gallon from my 100GPD RO/DI unit. I think the rating is dependent upon your supply pressure. My water supply is only 45 psi which is marginal for the unit. I have been considering one of the booster pumps that drives off the waste water. They are supposed to increase the output while cutting the waste volume down too.

and some pics to go with my complaining.. :)
My new tank.. with its lonely rock.. http://jmtech.ca/Pics/tank/tankfilled.jpg The power of the tunze.. PULLING water from the bottom when I added salt.. http://jmtech.ca/Pics/tank/cyclone.jpg My plumbing, temp lights power cords kinda look ugly.. not permanent.. :) http://jmtech.ca/Pics/tank/undertankplumbing.jpg And the other side of the wall, my temp sump in the garage.. http://jmtech.ca/Pics/tank/sump.jpg My temporary tank to hold a few things while this tank gets ready.. http://jmtech.ca/Pics/tank/20g.jpg I beleive i have Skyline to thank for this little guy.. My unit is a dual membrane 320gpd unit. I had to buy a over sized boost put as my water pressure is only 38psi. but I run the boost pump output at 180 PSI, then by the time my water goes thought all my filters it is at 100 PSI at the membrane. Steve |
"My unit is a dual membrane 320gpd unit"
Damn. I couldnt find a unit bigger then 100gpd. Is that a commercial unit for office buildings or something? |
My 100gpd puts out almost exactly 100gpd. Pressure is 100psi, temp is cool.

Damn, looking good so far.
You should try and fill that sucker with my tap water filter ;) Yes you can come back next month and see if its full ;) |
My 315g tank is gonna take forever....

Water pressure
Put a water pressure gauge on and loosen up the municipal water pressure reducer a bit until you get the pressure you want. But don't over do it or you might geta few leaks in your house depending on the age and type of pipes you have.
