Veterinarians
Took my happy old dog to the vet today for a dental. Picked him up at 4. They take me into and show me pics of what they did and explain why he's gonna have a tough time for a couple weeks. Here's some drugs and instructions and a $1350.00 bill. He's a mess and I'm not any better.

Don't even get me started on vets.
Took my dog in the other week. Tested his pee and gave me some antibiotics for a kidney infection, $400 later. Worst thing was I had to go and catch said pee (while he was peeing and wondering WTF is my mom doing collecting my urine) so it's not like they did anything. Appointment took 5 minutes. BOOM. $400 dollars. I'd hate to see what it would cost for some kind of surgery. |
Don't get me wrong. I'm not bashing veterinarians. I'm just upset because I thought he was going to come out better. I paid the bill obviously and it'll take a while to make that money back. There's no way I'm sleeping tonight though. He's soooo drugged.

I just think they take advantage of people who they KNOW are going to pay for their babies to get better.
I was on the BOD for an animal shelter and we used to get stuff for cost for the shelter - It just irritates me a little bit when their profit margin is so high. Not all of them... I love my regular vet and she treats me good. However when something is wrong I go where I can get in right away. I've got an 8 year old greyhound with a brain tumor who needs a cleaning. I'm stressed about it. I don't even know if he will make it through the cleaning but some need to come out because they are giving him problems and are going to end up infected. Sigh. Furbabies. |
Ask him to share said drugs. You may feel better for time being;)

My old Akita got cancer at 6 years old. The meds were $1000 a month. In the end it didn't help him much and had to put him down.
It's sad at the price they charge but some vets are better than others. My wife yorki has some loose teeth. The new getin town said she can pull them for 150 a tooth or let them fall out and give him antibiotics. Nice since she was honest and the antibiotics was cheaper way to go |
Try having 10 dogs in the country where there are porcupines and then talk to me about vet bills
|
If that was my case Greg I'd roofie the dogs and do it myself. Hehe

$1000 a month is an impossible amount even if I could work 24/7. I took today off in advance because I knew I would not be able to focus.

$434 to put down my cat today...

Jesus.
Sucks bad enough losing a pet, but then to pay that. I'm hoping that's with cremation fees too? |
Since we're sharing one of my cats use to have problems, a combination of being allergic to pretty much every type of commercial food and having urinary problems use to stack up pretty decent bills for constant check ups and meds. One day after learning a few things outside of the vet I managed to switch him onto a raw diet, now he's 100% with zero health issues. Only complaint is he's 100% with zero health issues and he'll probably live forever... this is my nightmare.
In regards to dogs and dental, nothing better for a dogs teeth than the occasional raw bone. This is our dentist, cost around $2.50 |
Raw bones raw meat. Best food for dogs. Raw meat also curbs bad hips

food is a little more expensive, but i think thats because were using pre made/ground/mixed food. if we were to do it ourselves probably much cheaper |
