What is the difference between a frag and a colony?!

So I have been looking at online sites and am completely confused as to what is a "colony" coral and what is just a frag. Is it just that a frag is on a plug and a colony is not?

A colony is larger, a frag is "fragment" a small piece of a colony

Its related to size and is completely based on opinion.

Those are the impressions I was getting ... no idea if number of polyps/heads or size has anything to do with it, and one store can sell the exact same item as another and call it a colony and charge $40 more ...

Don't bet on that, some frags are much more expensive nowadays

You can frag a colony but you can't colony a frag.:twised:

Frags are for people with patience while colonies are for the rest of us :)

I actually prefer frags over colonies anyday. It just seems that frags(at least sps) do better and live longer and grow into a colony.I really like watching a frag grow into something amazing.

Agreed. Almost everything in my tank came from a frag.

It easy to make a frag a colony, just take several frags of the same thing all glued together. Instant colony

I think it is easer to make a colony a frag, one nice hammer smack

Lots of frags, just if they heal properly :twised:
