February Reef Meet - Calgary
 

Someone nominated me to organize a reef meet this month.

I'm not looking at a calendar atm, however wondering if there's interest and what would work for most. The Blind Monk downtown (beltline) can set aside tables and they actually have great wings. The only nights not good for me are the 18th and 22nd.

So, let's get some feedback and set this up!

Lesson learned from last time was we need tables and wings so you're off to a good start :thumb:

How about not downtown or beltline? I would even go North, over downtown.

Yes, WINGS are a MUST. :-). I also vote no for downtown because of parking problem. However I went to Mug Shotz Sports Bar & Grill which is near odgen and they have big table, plenty of parking and great wings. Not sure how busy it is at night tho.

Not sure parking downtown would be an issue on a weekend.

I can help with parking as I manage the building. That said, it would be kinda inconvenient to provide access to and from the parkade if people were coming and going at different times. This is also a beltline building at 9th Street and 12th Avenue therefore parking on the street is much easier - same as Inglewood. Safeway is right across the street, however they do monitor the lot.

Another location with great wings is the Regal Beagle on 14th in the Kensington area, not downtown, but still fairly central.

Also, would everyone prefer a weekend afternoon or weeknight evening?

I'll do my best to make it regardless of location and whatever the time.

I'm in if the time and date works out.

Has a NE location like Toad and Turtle or Joey's ever been tried? Easy access and parking.

Yeah they tried it once although slightly more north, from what I heard everyone just cried about the extra 2.5min on deerfoot and didn't go.

We could also have the after party in Concept's back shop and have a frag auction :)

There was one planned at Woody's in the NE and only 3 people showed up.

I've called the Toad N Turtle just off Barlow and 32nd NE and the Regal Beagle on 14th Street NW. Both will accept reservations for a Saturday afternoon.

I propose the 23rd and either location would be great, say 2 pm. Last meeting had a great turnout, hopefully we can do the same or better!

Please post a preference and I will go with majority, I'd like to call in the reservation by this Friday.

I'll go anywhere but I'll vote for T&T, it's close to Concept and I've seen how many junkies hang out over there so no excuses :mrgreen:

If some are wanting to use transit another option is Jameson's on 36th street NE.

Alright, I have been ask to grace you all with my presence and it turns out the wife is taking a coarse here at the college that weekend & I have a new sump to pick up. So as long as the locating doesn't change at the last minute........I WILL BE THERE........feel free to shower me with free frags :lol:

Toad & Turtle is booked for the 23rd, 2 pm, reservation is under CANREEF. I booked for 20, but as its a pub, I'm sure if we need more tables, it should be easy enough to adjust.

Sweet!! I just put that into my calendar. I may even go out and see if I can find an LED flashlight to buy just so that I can share in some of the cool kids converstions.
