Victoria Group Buy - Denis's Frags

If you are interested in any of Denis's frags please PM Denis. Arrange payment through email money transfer or Paypal. If there is enough interest Denis is gonna ship a package next Saturday. I will pick up the shipment and all buyers can get their frags at the Subway across from Uptown at 6pm.

Shipping via Island Air from Abbotsford to Victoria. Is approximately $1 per pound to be devided equally between all buyers. Should be between $30-50 total.

If you are interested please post here with number of pieces you are interested in. Denis may frag other colonies from his display tank if you contact him directly.

Denis, do you have a close up on the blue sarmentosa? Is it a true blue or green blue?

Thanks,

Wayne

It's true blue. This one is more difficult to keep.

Brad, I think you need this one too! :twised:

Denis, how much is the sarmentosa and the turaki? I am also interested in one of the pink stylo and the Bali tricolor.

Can you also pm your experience with the sarmentosa?

Thanks

Wayne

That sarmemtosa is a nice one. I dont think its sarmentosa though, maybe digitifera or humilus.

Brad, when I go to tyler to pick up my share, I can also bring you that frag I still have here for you, and than stop by at your place to get a few frags so you get some space

i do have to cut a new one, as the one I initially had grew to the rock as it and its mother colony is growing fairly fast.

Let me know if this is option to do

Aquattro 02-03-2013 02:23 PM

I'll PM you Kevin

Hi Wayne,
They're both $20 each.
I found the Sarmentosa to be quite sensitive to alk drops and general water quality, it doesn't like to be neglected. Most of the coloration comes from polyps and it looses it when upset. Very slow grower. It needs strong flow and light. This colony is my take two as I almost lost it few years ago.
Cheers.

Come to think of it, it does look a lot like a humulis but I am definitely not a sps connoisseur. I had picked up a humuilus not long ago... Brad I gave you a frag of this... It is a challenging coral! It demands a lot of light of which I cannot give the penthouse space to at this time.

Denis, if it is a blue sarmentosa I would be definitely interested.

Hi Darryl,
That's my best guess, I did actually buy a microscope to analyze the coralite structures and properly identify the Acros I got, but I got the wrong scope with too much magnification and I can't get far enough away from the subject to see it from above. I hope to get another one later.
I'm sure its not Humilis , I got one of those right beside it.

Cheers.

I don't have any frags of this one at the moment, but I could make you one .
Sorry, I had to take a shot from the top, I couldn't get a picture from the front that looked anything like the real thing.

Just wondering how long does it take to grow a coral that big? they look great!!!

Rice Reef 02-05-2013 12:37 AM

Tyler, when is the cutoff date for the island order? Will Denis calc. Each person's portion of shipping or do we pay you at time of pick up?

Thanks

Wayne

The growth rate can vary a lot, the pink stylo is 10 years old and the Bali tricolor I have for 4 years.
Cheers.

Re. Shipping - I will pay Denis and collect shipping fees from the buyers when I disperse the frags.

Cut off date is up to Denis.

The cut off will be when the last bag goes into the box on Saturday sometime after lunch. Shipping will be divided, looks like 6 people, I'll have to pay for it when I drop off, but it will be less than $10 per person. I was told $1 a pound and I'm sure there will be taxes and fuel surcharge. I think I'll make it $8 per person, I'll cover the rest. I still have to get some boxes, hopefully local pet store has some.
Cheers.

Also a huge thank you to Tyler for arranging the group buy, picking up the shipment and delivery!

Thanks Denis. Everything went well.

Seeing the pilot carry the 40lb box of coral off the plane and hand deliver himself was priceless.
