Reef Tank Temp
Was just wondering what most of you keep your reef tanks temperature at? I have heard of a lot of opinion on Temp so just thought I'd ask. Thanks

80 degree's is what I'm at, and have been told and read that keeping your temp. constant is what's more important than what you are set for.
|
76 here, on a controller.

Although, once I hit a point where growth is getting excessive, I can drop it lower to retard growth rates. |
77 (when lights off). Goes up to 79 (with lights on). Can reach 80-82 (on a really hot day in the summer). Cooling fans kick in at 80. Lights automagically cut out if tank hits 83.

27.5 (we are in Canada after all :P)

My tank is running around 78 +or- . I read somewhere (and I can't find the article again) that while corals may benefit from warmer temps, many of the fish we keep actually have shorter overall lifespans at those warmer temps and actually thrive in a bit cooler temps. If memory serves me correctly they recommended a constant temp of between 78 - 80 to be the optimum temp for everything to be healthy.

So thanks to everyone, still lots of opinions about the "Right" temp, so after reading all your thoughts and reading on line about coral and fish metabolism I have set my temp at 79 and set with a controller so will be stable.

79-80 my thermometer does not read in C but reading this thread, I am setting the heater slightly lower.

A controller yes, but I run a chiller with a older built-in controller and it's only 1 degree increments.
|
My controller is in .1 so I have it set at 79.0

My tank is running 78 when lights first come on to 84 when they shut off at night. I don't have a heater in the tank so the lights are it's sole source of heat
|
78.0 via controller
Tank is in basement and house has AC so it doesn't get very warm at all even in the summer |
78-79
|
78f+/-1, mixed reefs.
