Yes!

We will be offering $50 flat-rate shipping across Canada via Fedex Overnight.

For clients in Vancouver we will also offer $25 flat-rate shipping via Harbour Air.

mrhasan 01-14-2013 03:23 AM

Alberta should get cheap rates for shipping too. We are neighbors :P

It is. Although we could do $25 to Nanaimo by Harbour Air. Do you think that will work for you?

We will be implementing a very simple group order system to reduce shipping costs.

It's looking like we will have this running within the next couple days, so we will have pricing very soon! :)

We have been working hard getting everything organized for our online WYSIWYG coral store.

Before we launch, we want to hear your feedback about group orders. What do you find annoying, good, bad etc. We know that organizing group orders can be frustrating, sometimes it may feel like online vendors make you do all the work.

Our idea is to have a minimum group order of five people, and for each person it will be a standard 10 dollar shipping rate. All we need from your group is a single delivery point and time. The benefit of having a standard rate, is that you wouldn't need to put in as much time organizing everyone. Each person goes online, and purchases what they want as if they were single buyer. When checking out, mention you are a part of a group order (example: Calgary Jan 18) and click our handy dandy group order shipping rate. People could drop out at the last moment, and it wont effect the group order at all(as long as at least five people commit). Also, as everything is WYSIWYG and the website is updated in real time, you don't need to worry about orders getting mixed up.

Thoughts?

Ohh and some corals ;)

Just my 0.02:

Online vendors should have such a price that it would be worthwhile to:
1. Pay the shipping
2. Wait

I have seen online vendors who charges more than that in LFS. That kinda sucks :P

dreef 01-17-2013 02:08 AM

Just my 2 cents :) That's a very fair shipping price Spenser. You have no idea what high shipping is..i have payed up to 120 for overnite shipping for a handful of sps frags. And when you have NO LFS you just suck up and pay the price for everything.A good deal for me is I.O salt 160 gallon pail for 50 +taxes an hour away.

Good point, we didn't think about setting up a group buy option when using harbour air. Let's scratch our heads a bit and we will come up with something.

jtbadco 01-18-2013 12:00 AM

when you say a group order shipping rate of $10 per person I am concerned. I organize for a group of approx 70 people and we regularly do orders for about 10 to 15 people. If I order 20 frags myself I get a flat rate of $50, but if 10 people(2 frags each) go the group order way they get charged $100??

And most vendors I have dealt with have free shipping after a certain amount is spent (usually $300-400), will you be having something similar?

Yeah, I agree a group order with 70 people with the way we have it, or group orders with small amounts of frags each our set up would be less than ideal.

What do you think of having the person who gets the shipment is charged the 50 dollars shipping, and everyone else gets "free shipping". Presumably so that the group order can figure how to share the shipping amongst the group.

We want what's best and we are certainly open to suggestions.

Blue World Aquariums 01-18-2013 12:42 AM

The key idea is that each person involved in the group order should place individual orders on their own. With our already high stock turnover rate, that's the only way group orders will work.

We're open to suggestions beyond that.

Cade 01-18-2013 12:54 AM

I like that even though your store is only 2 minutes away I will be able to shop in my PJ's.
Maybe I can cut down on the impulse buying.... Hmmm...
or will it get worse? lol

subman 01-18-2013 01:33 AM

I think your shipping charges are more than fair.... But I would also like to see group orders (with a set min amount) get free shipping. It is the main reason to do a group order imo

kam 01-18-2013 01:48 AM

If only 1 person is charged the shipping, it should be the person receiving the coral so they can expect payment from the others before handing the frags over to people. I think that might work better then $10 per person and what if more then 5 order, etc etc.... Then it can be devided up between the people fairer.. if I order 1 frag i shouldn't have to pay as much of the shipping portion as somebody that orders 20... IMO.

I agree everyone should have to place their own order. And be able to select option "Group Buy Calgary Jan 20" or whatever.

A free shipping if order is over ______ would be nice too. PERSONALLY I am more likely to spend more money on frags to help reach that goal if I know I wont have to pay for shipping (given that its not something like 500$... 300-400 seems to be the standard for all those i've purchased frags from)

Wheelman76 01-18-2013 05:17 AM

Nice looking stuff

jacamarorchids 01-18-2013 05:31 AM

Managed to get a peek at the site today when I stopped in at the store... It's gonna be FANTASTIC!!!! SO EXCITING!!

jtbadco 01-18-2013 02:00 PM

I am totally stoked!!! If the prices are half as nice as the frags we will be doing alot of business!!!

We spent a lot of time considering 'free shipping over $x'. If we were just doing frags, we wouldn't hesitate as those are high margin items with very low shipping weight/volume. However, since we will be selling colonies, we figured out that it wouldn't be viable....unless we raised prices on our corals, and we don't want to do that.

The Grizz 01-18-2013 04:42 PM

I WANT THIS PIECE!!! When can I buy it and have it shipped out!!!
