New years tank resolutions

Just for fun what resolutions that are tank related do you wish to make for yourself and hopefully next year we can re visit this thread and see how we did.

For me I have a couple.. More frequent water changes.. Waiting six weeks cause I'm lazy or to tired is not helping some situations..secondly find new ways to cut power consumption on both my tanks ( like LEDs and a manifold off my return pump to run reactors reducing pumps) so my goal is to drop my powerbill by min 50 bucks a month or more by next year

Make all my tanks more easy to work with. Automated water changes.
Also try to make auto top offs for all my tanks.

Get them to stop breeding.

You sure like to throw the bait out there, don't you...

Leah 12-31-2012 02:47 PM

Looking at my tank now compared to a month ago ..is bare and nothing but fish rocks and a couple corals:sad: (mostly sold at Concept at boxing day)

That said my new year resolution is what ever I place in my display as a mother colony to grow into never to take out unless its feeding time or trades

TO GET MY 300 BUILT!!!!

christyf5 12-31-2012 04:41 PM

Get back on schedule with waterchanges and stop being so critical of the tank. I find I don't enjoy it much anymore because I'm too busy looking at the algae, or the dead bits or the pile of detritus that I haven't had time to suck up or the fact that my lavender tang STILL has ick (this is going on almost 3 years now) etc.

ponokareefer 12-31-2012 05:30 PM

Finish off my tank with just a couple more fish and a few neat looking mushrooms/mini carpets.

The breeding can continue.

To stop being so damn lazy and get my re-vamp done that I started working on a couple of months ago.

kien 12-31-2012 06:19 PM

I don't make resolutions. However, I hope that my tank does and resolves to be totally awesome this year, as opposed to falling to shambles like most of this year.

Werbo 12-31-2012 06:33 PM

Just contacted Ecotech. I am starting off the New Year by sending one of my MP40s back that has been bugging me ever since I purchased it.

They can deal with it :)

I feel better already. Oh ya ...and more water changes.

+1 This day is no different than any other. I woke up, I am alive. Every day is new years day.

My hopes for my tank are to figure out a filter system (hob or custom sump) and populate it without crashing it due to nutrient overload. I love the chemistry and all of the variables, it keeps my mind alert and malleable.

Lance 12-31-2012 07:16 PM

To spend a little more time with the tank. Have been away from it too much the last year.

brotherd 12-31-2012 10:46 PM

To actually get my tank running. Wife says I don't have a hobby I just buy all the stuff instead...

11purewater 12-31-2012 11:16 PM

Find somebody to take care of the tank so I can take a couple or 5 days off:biggrin:

michika 01-01-2013 02:47 AM

To remember to sit back and enjoy it. Like having your morning _(coffee, tea, etc...insert misc. crutch)_ and just spending the time basking in and appreciating it.

Also I want to replace my current couch with something more comfortable and better suited for tank watching. Mostly, I'd like to enjoy my tank and not have to fight my dogs for space to do it from.

NIVLEM09 01-01-2013 02:52 AM

i can't make up my mind whether to buy the Ecotech radion gen2 or AI Vega:sad:

Skimmerking 01-01-2013 02:55 AM

to win over this Red Turf Algae
to get my tank to be SPS again.
to make it automated
and to get a cube and to be done with it .

Aquattro 01-01-2013 02:57 AM

No new corals in 2013 :)

marie 01-01-2013 03:04 AM

Give the tank time to mature and NOT add any more fish.........

Samw 01-01-2013 09:37 AM

Successfully mail order some Pom Pom Xenia umbellata. None found locally after looking for many years. Seems only Xenia elongata around here.
