clown distress
My female clown was just swimming around minding her own business happy blah blah... I fed the fish some nls flake, she ate then I went for supper. Come back and look, she's at the bottom breathing rapidly, and laying on the bottom...
Parameters are Nitrate 0 nitrite 0 Ammonia 0? Slightly darker so I added some stability Phos 0 Alk 9 Ca 420 Salinity 1.024 I don't get it, and I'm not sure what to do, everything else is fine, she's just really stressed/possibly dieing.... Also pointed a powerhead to the surface. Only recent change was Saturday I removed half the LR from my tank that was taken over with gha so I'm cooking it. But there is still about 20lbs in the tank. Her colors normal, pattern looks good. Has one or 2 small black dots on her, but always has. I can't get a pic as she's at the back of the tank and I don't want to move her and stress her out, please help guys she's fading quick. |
I know I'm not super well liked here guys but a little fish needs help beyond my experience.

Have you tried a fresh water dip?
Not sure about that one. Never done it before.
check your ph
you may have caused a spike by removing most of your rocks or and disturbing your sand bed. I suggest doing a large water change whyle lights are off less stress on the fish. Run couple extra pump heads with air line intake for extra oxygen.or run the airline through the water pumps you already have running in your system. Good luck and hope your fish pulls through. |

Could you have had something on your fingers when you fed? And you added stability BEORE or after she took sick?
Added yesterday since I removed the rock to keep things stable, and then today after she looked stressed. My hands were clean no soap residue on them or anything.

Maybe run extra carbon to remove any impurities that might have been stirred ... |
Will do. Carbon and gfo just changed on Sunday

Ph normal 8.2
Hermit crabs are moving in on her and she's still breathing. Barely. :( I'm gonna go ahead and call this one a goner.. had her over a year. Do I wait a bit? Let her suffer? Or drip some clove oil in a cup with tank water and put her to sleep? :( |

Well thanks for the suggestions guys..
she's dead :( |
That sucks!! Sorry for your loss!
Thanks Sheena.. it happens it was fast though I guess..
Sorry to hear Ken. All the other fish ok?
Seem to be. They're all eating and swimming around like nothing happened that's what's so weird about it. I wonder what could have caused her to die with in 2 hours after being (seemingly) fine all day...
is it possible a chunk of food got stuck in her mouth causing her to drown?
Possible. It's just flake food, but its entirely possible. I just hope it wasn't brook' or some disease..
seems unlikely it was a disease, as it came on so quickly out of the blue.
Yeah I suppose so.
something sting her?
crappy either way. Sorry buddy
It's ok thanks Jason. I'll have to break the flake up a bit in the future or switch to the small pellets. It Mau be for the best right now as the tank is lacking biofiltration.
