FS: 100G starphire w/ Cracked Bottom

54"L x 22"W x 20"H w/ 1/2" 3 sided starphire glass, 1.75" holes drilled in the back pane for 1" bulkhead returns. Bottom pane is cracked down the middle and I am not intuitive enough to take the tank apart and reseal it with a new pane. Other than the crack the tank is in good condition, couple scratches on the front & scuff on the corner of the right side but nothing major.

Someone come take this baby off my hands before my new tank arrives. Perfect for a good DIYer.

Bring one or two other people along to pick it up as it is on the 4th floor of a condo complex and I will be unable to help due to a recent knee injury.

$200

Is the stand included

The Grizz 12-06-2012 04:09 PM

I would say the stand is not included as he is having a new tank built to replace this one.

$100. New tank is here soon and need this gone before then. My loss is your gain. Elevator to the ground level is close to my door. Come take this and make it your new DIY project.

Pmed got pics of the crack??

tim the toolman 12-15-2012 03:37 PM

Bump for a great deal if repairable.
Is it a straight crack or diagonal. I would think with a straight crack you could put a straight strip of glass across it with a very generous silicone bead and have no problems. Would cover with a sand bed

you could do that if it didnt stem from the overflow holes..

tim the toolman 12-15-2012 04:01 PM

That does make it tougher for sure. I can say though when I bought my tank used it had corner overflow that was beat up and needed some tlc. I cut it out a caulked a piece of glass over the existing hole and then just re drilled my own hole and built my new overflow the way I wanted.
Not trying to hijack to trying to help with the sale.

haha i know and i appreciate it but there is no way to save this one. the holes have cracks steming all around them and the glass is even starting to chip in this area.

Lol. Alright I give up then. Good deal just the same

$100 is a great deal. Wouldn't take much to replace the bottom panel.

Rusty dog 12-16-2012 08:41 AM

I seen ur new tank it looks nice buddy. I would have brought it back with me but I didn't have the room in my vehicle for it.

wmcinnes 12-16-2012 02:55 PM

Oh man am I excited for it! Still no word on when it will be here though :(

doubt you even check canreef any more wayne, I am finally getting around to setting up this tank. I bought the glass to fix it right after i picked it up from you but then.. life happened.

up until today i was under the belief all glass in this tank was 1/2"

turns out the sides are all 1/2 and the bottom that cracked is 3/8"

wish i noticed sooner, or perhaps wish you noticed, not sure if t hats how you spec'ed it but perhaps whoever the builder of the tank was "accidentaly" grabbed the wrong piece of glass, Perhaps the 1/2 inch would have withstood you tightening t he bulkheads that close to each other.

Thanks again for the glass, although it has just sit as a paperweight in the garrage for a while perhaps i can get it sorted out soon.
