permission to adopt a dog

i would like your permission to adopt two dogs from Afghanistan.

Flash 11-28-2012 01:42 AM

Jirga whaaaaa?????

howdy20012002 11-28-2012 01:54 AM

not sure why you would be requesting our permission to do this.
However, I personally feel that the money that will be spent bringing dogs over from a country that is half way around the world when we have plenty of our own dogs that require loving homes doesn`t really have much of a purpose.
In my opinion, perhaps we should spend the money on helping the millions of starving and orphaned children in Africa or other charities..before shipping dogs that much of a distance.
I have been to afghanistan and the dogs that I saw there were not really pet quality if you know what I mean...they are typically wild or nearly wild mutts that roam the streets...not really sure if i would be wanting to bring that into my home.
the high costs for something like this could be so better used in more appropriate ways.
just my opinion
and I am sure this will start a whirlwind of debate.

I agree. We have plenty of sheltered animals here in Canada. I believe help starts at home first

mohammadali 11-28-2012 02:38 AM

thanks for the opinion :)
reefers spends more then $10000+ like myself i have started saltwater 29g cost $1500+
but there are millionaires why don't they send money to orphans ?

Im from Afghanistan , i have seen the dogs there i know how crazy they are but there are dogs people keep as pets .
i just wanna bring two Afghan Hound puppies .

cuz 11-28-2012 02:40 AM

you have my permission!!

howdy20012002 11-28-2012 02:44 AM

its your money..do what you want.
I was just saying that the money it is going to cost you to do this could be used elsewhere, if you were looking at doing this for a charitable reason.
but if it what you want to do, go for it.
make sure you do the research, as I am sure that there are tonnes of regulations and quarantine procedures that will require lots of time and money.
it would be definitely cheaper to find a afghan dog in BC...but to each their own.
good luck if you decide to do it.

Flash 11-28-2012 02:45 AM

Why would you ask, it just stirs the pot. Your choice is your choice... No need to ask strangers for permission... It just starts crap.

11purewater 11-28-2012 02:47 AM

This is an ethical debate that can go on forever without a solution. If you have the ability to save the life of a creature that is destined for certain anihilation,do so,whether it has 2 legs or 4.If you can provide a good life to that animal then good on you,but I also believe you should look in your own back yard and adopt one from here as a companion to your afagani refugee. We're all very lucky to have disposable income in this country, the 20 dollar bill in my pocket could go towards the calgary spca tomorrow or the fish store ,who here has the right to judge:sad:

Lots of people give money to charities including millionaires, why do think they don't?

What is the point of this thread? The only people you need permission from are the animal control officers who okay what animals are allowed into the country (including a lengthy quarentine period). A bunch of random people on the internet are not not going to be able to give you over-riding legal authority to bring in out of country animals.

NIVLEM09 11-28-2012 02:58 AM

permission granted....you may proceed!

11purewater 11-28-2012 03:01 AM

If those pups are from a shelter great, the last thing you want to do is start puppy mills in another country because Canadians want to scoop them up.

Flash 11-28-2012 03:02 AM

rich people get richer but they get cheaper , they dont want to lose a penny so how can they let $1 go to charity ?
my oldest bro been in Afghanistan since they NATO leaving he got to leave country or he'll die after the nato leave Afghanistan ill ask him to bring puppies with him as hes pet when he goes to USA

howdy20012002 11-28-2012 03:15 AM

please for your sake and the dog`s sake...do research
it is not as easy as flying the dogs in and picking them up.
there are certainly going to have to be plenty of hoops you need to jump through before these dogs will be yours to keep.

Regulations for bringing in out of country animals in the USA is stricter than Canada. He'll still have to apply and if approved have the animals quarentined. It will be expensive. I met a lady who moved to Hawaii and brought her dog from Canada with her, the poor dog was in quarantine for 6 months and that was with all the vet records.

As for rich people, I know plenty who are very generous. Being rich has nothing to do with being a selfish person. If they're that way when rich they would be the same when poor.

I assume your trolling at this point and looking for reactions? Anyone 12+ year old would realize that there is no way an on duty military personal would just be allowed to bring animals back from their deployed location.

Your theory on rich people might hold to certain individuals but I can assure you its an over simplified stereotype which only goes to reassure us of your intelligence level.

Bill Gates = big charity donar
Steve Jobs = say no to charity

Since we live in a world which is overpopulated by apple users, everyone thinks becoming rich = getting Steve Jobs attitude ;) ; which is a sheer wrong concept since apple is being drowned by android (Sorry couldn't hold posting this; maybe this will lighten up this thread a bit?).

11purewater 11-28-2012 03:46 AM

There appears to be a lot of controversy over this whole notion of adopting a dog from over seas.. Have you thought about a cat instead?
