Keep politics and religion off the forums! It has no place in saltwater fish communities!!! However, I am sure there are other forums that welcome the discussion! That's all. Keep people happy and post safe for all!!!!

Now if you want to start a debate thread/opinion thread on lps/sps giver!!!!! Lol

Aquattro 11-12-2012 04:48 PM

Correct, religion and politics have no place here, pretty sure it's just common sense, we don't discuss politics, religion or what happened in Vegas. everyone knows that. I've posted it before, and I've informed many people about it, especially our last conspiracy theorist, Andresont. You may know him? :)
I don't want to have to write a book about rules, so let's just keep it to common sense, ok? Anything that's got the potential to fire up opposing opinions, that is NOT reef related, just doesn't belong here.

Andresont? Of course I remember him. He was banned for speaking out his opinion against war and everyone involved in the war.
war is disgusting .
Andresont did not break any written rules and yet he was banned because he spoke his mind.
And “someone” did not like that. That was Not fair.

Freedom of speech is a constitutional right of everyone in this country last time I checked. I bet you wouldn’t mind banning RuGlu as well for the exact same reason. Too much work for you.

Sure you can’t make a procedure and rule for every step and every situation, but in that case you can Not make rules as you pleased or as you go ether!
O am I wrong on this one as well?

Clearly this is a mainly “coral forum” and that is cool no one is arguing. However no one is talking about corals in Lounge section, so why pick on me? Because I am different?
Not talking about problems is like keeping your head in the sand it will not help to be aware and awake.
If someone does Not like the topic don’t reply, don’t read or unsubscribe from the thread this is so easy! But no, name calling is ok, making fun of someone is OK, but being different oh no! lets ban the guy, he is way out there with his point of view or idea. If everyone were the same, if children were exactly the same as their parents we would still be in the caves my friend. Or how about all of us driving black cars with same engine and listen to the same tune wow! That would be an interesting topic for discussion !
Remembrance Day and Christmas is politics and religion so why it is allowed? No one being banned for that.

Also difference in opinions is interesting, and keeps it vibrant, as long as discussion is civilised as well as mod’s behaviour, must be exemplary civilized and a true Mod must have a cool head, no?

So for example calling member names, belittling out in the open in front the whole world and clearly calling for a conflict; how is that in correlation with this site rules?

Would you like to be called names? Why my forum name was changed to something other then it was before? I did not change it, wasn’t my choice. I did make a joke about it but never requested this to be done.

Some of my posts may seem wacky I agree, and I confess sometimes I post just to see how public reacts or how collective opinion is formed (to me it is interesting),and oh boy do people show their true side when steered just a little in the right direction. lol but there is no harm done is there?

I even have people PM’d me about how they agree with me and call me “brave” I (am nobody, just another guy with different opinion that’s all.)
but these people are too afraid to come out in the open, they are afraid to be called “Skittleguard”. And that is understandable, we are all cool dudes and dudets.

What we all have to understand is that there is no you or me or her or him, we are all one. There is no them against us, It’s like an ocean that made of molecules of water (I am sure everyone on here can get this analogy). Its all water, molecules don’t fight.
If they do they will lose coherence.
Or like a human body, left hand does not fight the right hand, they don’t shoot each other. They COEXIST and thrive and that is my true wish for all the people.
Peace and love to all.:yield::yield:

Like I said, RDO is one of the only aquarium board that allows that in their lounge. If you're up to a challenge, have at them. You will get all you can handle over there.

Sorry, lost focus with all that, stopped here. Yup, you're wrong. See the page you agreed to when you signed up. We can remove anything for any reason, just because. Freedom of speech applies to the street corner, not private property, which is where you are currently. You are a guest here, and will post as per our (sometimes) changing guidelines or guest privileges will be revoked.
All pretty simple. To be clear, we will not allow posts concerning religion or politics, or any topic likely to breed hostility and become offense to one or more members of this board. This "any topic" category is subject to our discretion upon review by one or more staff members.

I don't think this is about freedom of speech. This is about "rules of conduct" in a place that is privately owned and operated. It's no different than a restaurant or any other local business. The business owner owns that facility. You are welcome to come so long as you adhere to their rules. They always reserve the right to deny you business. It is their place, not yours, not the public's.

Edit: Try arguing "freedom of speech" when a bouncer kicks you out of their night club for being a D-bag :-)

Can't agree more :)

Politics and religion along with other "argumentative" topics are always extremely subjective. "Knowledge" and "belief" are two open-ended senses (other than the five default senses) for which people are always arguing, debating, fighting, etc. And this forum is particularly for aquatic lives and those two senses can only be applicable to the proper topics only. Yet again, sometimes, things can go out of control with things related to the forum itself and that's why this forum has great moderators who, I believe, is not biased in any form and always carry out the right decision.

Yes sometimes, one might not like what a moderator said/did and that's totally understandable; everyone is subjective to their own opinion. But at the end, they are the "moderator" a.k.a the administration of this forum and they have every rights in their hand. One simply doesn't go around talking on the face of the boss/admin in an office without getting fired :)

This forum has given me a base where I can share ideas without any sort of political/religious/hatred topic based involvement and I will strongly stand for this cause :)

Sorry for saying these things despite not being a very old/reputed member but this is what I would call freedom of speech and this is what moderators will, I believe, call freedom of speech and will not flame it :) I guess I have presented my case of freedom of speech :)

To answer the original question:

"Lounge (24 Viewing)
Anything off topic (i.e. doesn't fit in other forums) and non-commercial (subject to Staff's discretion), but please keep it civil and exercise common sense. NO RELIGION/POLITICS (this includes war topics), no offensive material, no items for sale and don't give stuff away. No store reviews are allowed."

Aquattro 11-13-2012 12:48 AM

Thanks Sam, I knew it was around here somewhere
