It's a SAD morning

When I fed the fishes last night, I forgot to close the lid of my nanocube. This morning, I found one of my favorite fishes on the floor, completely dry
RIP, blue spot :( :(

PS Does anybody or LFS have one that I can have? It is so sad losing him.

It's a blue spot jawfish.

Sorry to hear you lost your jawfish. Along with Wrasses those are one of the best jumpers :-( Not an inexpensive fish either.

Pm me if you want me to brin one in

scubadawg 10-26-2012 05:29 AM

I had 2 firefish jump out, even with egg crate on top, so I just ordered the window screen stuff from bulk reef

I have a JBJ nanocube so it's completely closed. I just forgot to close that little lid last night. I lost a firefish before due to jumping as well. That's why I bought the cube to make sure it won't happen again. But I guess c'est la vie

I just started into Saltwater in April, lost 2 firefish, 1 bleeny to jumping and 1 filefish who got to close to my input of my protien skimmer

Will be doing a tank journal on my 187 gallon this week or next week.

Looking forward to reading your journal. I wish I can have a big tank like that

I feel your loss as well. Spent 3 hours on and off the other night working on my tank, water changes, tuning equipment. I got up to check my skimmer and adjust my gate valve, and found my radiant wrasse on the floor. Was still wet, but dead. I had been there 10 mins earlier. My blue throat trigger also took a leap out of the tank, but I was sitting there and heard it land, so got him back in right away.

Sorry about your wrasse :( I didn't realize blue throats were much for jumpers. I have two. Maybe I should get a lid...

Thanks for the thread Greg. It was an interesting read.

I had a cover on one of my tanks and constantly had to chase our cats off the top.
