I could come close to that much SW if I filled my pool with LR, salt & fish but the wife & grand babies would really be ****ed at me & it would not be as nice as this.

I remember reading somewhere that he recertifies medical equipment or something along those lines.

I was thinking the same thing. 50 million on Lotto Max!

I do enjoy seeing these massive tanks but personally, no part of me would want such a thing for myself. That's 20K gallons worth of pain and suffering right there LOL.

Reef_Geek 10-19-2012 04:58 PM

When I lived near one, I rather enjoyed volunteering at public aquariums as a diver / algae scrubber... more rewarding to wave at the kids on the other side of the glass and less expensive.

Seriak 10-19-2012 04:59 PM

Not with a full time job, no! But I was independently wealthy, I may do it to pass the time.

kien 10-19-2012 05:02 PM

good points. If I had that kind of money I would maybe donate it to the zoo with the stipulation that they use it to set up an aquarium for public viewing and "research" and education. Our Calgary Zoo could really use one.

Seriak 10-19-2012 05:22 PM

And of course private viewing for yourself anytime you wanted. :)

He's a high school drop-out who started a company that buys analytical instruments (HPLC, GC, ICP-MS, etc.) from pharmaceutical companies and refurbs them for resale. I had no idea there was that much money in that... But he takes advantage of the deep pockets of people doing oil and gas exploration.

Nice tank, in an overwhelming sense. He does all his own fabrication work which is pretty cool.
