lockrookie's 2012 nano contest entry
at this time all i can tell you guys is i will be using an old 10g tank i had laying around trim removed. i have to polish it up a bit. but it will suffice. when the contest is over im either giving it away in a potm contest on my local forum or giving it to my niece for her dorm room at college.. there may or may not be a sump torn on the lighting and design so all you get is a pic of my dilapitated tank lol lets hope i can give it a new lease on life.

http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=82418 I don't know how well it would scale down, but I love it so much my next big tank will have one (and will be built by Concept). |
One of the other nano contestants drilled a couple of holes in the bottom centre of his tank and placed LR around the the drain and overflow pipe. It looks really good but I don't recall whose tank it was.
A store up here in Edmonton had a very large 4 side viewable display tank that they mostly kept their colony size corals for sale in. I loved seeing it until they renovated and sold it off. |
Yes I like those as well but in a nano not so good we'll it would work but I'm thinking more along the lines of overhead filtration no sump hiding power heads to the best of my ability and building the equivalent of an aqua clear filter in the hood trickling back to the tank in a staged waterfall manner for carbon and what not along each long side of the tank leaving the middle for work and lighting I have to do some measurements and figure out the pumps. Since it is only a 10 gallon tank weekly water changes will be a breeze and if I can figure a DIY skimmer in the mix within it via air stone or something bonus if not its all good

You do like a challenge don't you??!!
But you don't have like a year to get this one going...and making everyone wait forever....just sayin.. Looking forward to this build!! |

As much as I've wanted to do this contest as most of you know the thrill is in the build. Mind you I haven't 100% decided I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to bow out of the. Contest and concentrate on finishing my 180g. I wish you all the best and will be following along to see the winner

I'm still going to build it just not right now the girls and I where sick for two weeks business has been slow and as I was doing tank maintenance and stuff I decided I really need to finish the hood design and pre plan for the LEDs. Much rather put my money towards that right now the parts I have will not go to waste
