NORI

JUst wondering how often you add your NORI to your clips? I add 8" by 6" strips, witch my hippo tang and yellow wrasse eat within a day or so. then i don't usually add more till 3 days later. just curious about the rest of you that feed nori to your tangs and othe fish.

Cheers,

Pluff

some of my tangs such as the naso vlamingii, breverosterois, and unicornis, can eat 4 sheets each per sitting, but I try to feed them less most days
thats feeding every day like that plus Mysis, yes I buy nori by the case....and mysis by the truckload...

LostMind 04-15-2004 09:05 PM

I try to add nori to my tank evryday. My purple tang and lawnmower blenny really go nuts over it.

UnderWorldAquatics 04-15-2004 10:14 PM

yeah those salaris(lawnmower) blennys do go nuts over it, greddy little buggers too, funny to watch a 4" blenny grab hold of a 16" tang and shake it till it swims away

EmilyB 04-15-2004 10:23 PM

Usually twice a day because I can't stand them staring at me.

Im always concerned about how much too put in, My purple tang loves it, but I dont want to over feed? Im interested to see how much others feed there tangs? i give mine about a 3 inch by 4 inch piece every day.

LostMind 04-15-2004 10:57 PM

I put a 5"x5" everyday. Just the purple tang and blennie.

I've been giving my 4" Purple Tang a 3"x3" piece daily, now I'm feeling guilty about underfeeding. Seems fat but could explain why he likes the mysis so much.

LostMind 04-16-2004 02:25 AM

Mine still eats tons of mysis. I think they like meat quite a bit.

Quinn 04-16-2004 02:40 AM

Mine took a while to get onto mysis but loves it now.

kari 04-16-2004 03:50 AM

3 pieces 6"x2" twice a day for the Purple Tang and Moorishs. The Purple Tang is going to have to go on a diet soon due to its roundish figure.

Half a sheet per day for Algae Blenny, Yellow Tang, Naso Tang and Foxface

I feed Nori once every two-four days.
I worry about possibly being forgetful and leaving the clip covered portion in my tank to rot...

Nori around a pipe

Diomededs - I roll my nori around a piece of 1/2" pvc and hold it in place with elastic bands in zigzags then hang the pvc from a zap strap or string into the tank. I find this method allow the entire piece of nori to be eaten and doesn't allow that small piece of nori to be left in the clip to rot.

IslandReefer 04-16-2004 03:20 PM

Noramaki

It has also been suggested, that you can wrap the nori around the PVC and hold it on with a sleeve of gutterguard. This allows 100% fish service without any nori not being able to be eaten as under a clip.

For some reason, my blue tang and foxface completely ignore nori when on a clip or strapped to pvc. The only time they'll eat nori is if I break it up into small flakes, soak it, and dump it in my tank

There you go spoiling your fish again  ... let them fend for themselves ... after a couple days they will be tearing it off the pvc

Hehe...you're probably right.

Fish: "What the hell is this...you want me to eat it off of what...a pipe!?"
