Is GE silicone I is for reef?
I bought a tube of GE silicon I since I heard that II might no longer be safe. I will be using it to mod a AC110. So can this silicon I be considered "reef safe"?

Weather shield white and greenish tube. Say aquarium safe on front
|
I will actually have to attach some baffles to mode the aquaclear 110. Can I overcome this complexity of choosing the right silicone? Perhaps use some other adhesives? Suggestions? :D

#16 acrylic glue

silicone
nuflex 333 aquarium sealant-you can order it from your local glass shop
|
I built a sump refugium with Silicone I a year ago and although I've seen whole tank builds done with it, it pretty much wiped out all my softies. It definately changed or put something in the water.

Why nOT just buy aquarium safe silicone from the local store, $20 is no big deal when you could potentially lose 100's.
After hearing and seeing the horror stories online, I would not risk it! |
Yah I have also decided buying the mariland silicon from Big Al's. Not taking the risk; not worth it to save a few $$.

I am just sayin, for a cost of a dinner it's not worth the risk at least not for me. Maybe in Victoria you get toothpaste tubes but here on the mainland we get standard silicone tubes, the size that fits caulking guns.... Again just sayin! |
I bought a whole case of 24 tubes SCS 1200 for $116 in Calgary @ Sabic for my 300 build so under $5 a tube.

I'm with Grizz. I got mine for around $7-8 per tube of SCS1200 but I only bought a few. People stress over what to get and try to cut corners with GEll when everyone should be using SCS1200. |
