Apex/AI Sol
So I have my new AI Sol lights running on my tank now. I purchased the VDM module for my Apex so I could dim them and program them to ramp up and down for sunrise and sunset. I've been very happy with the results but I've noticed the royal blue LED's don't come on.
In the apex configuration there is only an option to program the blues and whites. There is no option to configure the royal blues. Has anyone else had experience with this? |
You need to change the module type. Under Configuration > Module, select your VDM from the dropdown list. It then has a VDM configuration box where you can select the AI type. Options are standard and Sol Blue. That should then give you three channels.

I've tried both options as you've described. I will try once again.

Here is what I'm looking at.

I am in the exact same boat!
|
Have you updated the firmware on the Apex and the VDM?
|
Confirmed. firmware is fully up to date on all modules. I'm wondering aquattro, do you have a third outlet in your setup names royal blue? I only have an option for white and one for blue.
|
yes there should be a third module.... its been a year since I set mine up, but im sure there are 3 channels in the apex for all three

Thats my problem. I can't get that third royal outlet added. I've tried switching back from modifiying my vdm model back to standard AI Sol and then switching it back to Blue Ai Sol and it still won't add the royal outlet.
In the manual it says when you add the vdm module I should get two outlets. One for blue and one for white. as well as four virtual outlets. So needless to say I'm confused. |
Either post this in the RC Neptune forum or email Kurt, both will probably get you a pretty quick answer.

this is what it states in the manual:
Web Interface: Configuration – Module Setup – Verify the VDM is listed in the Apex Module List. Also 6 outlets are automatically created which can be configured Configuration – Outlet Setup. The initial names of the VDM outlets are VarSpd1_X_1 to VarSpd4_X_4, BluLED_X_5, and WhtLED_X_6. When the VDM is installed the Apex automatically installs 4 variable speed outlets (named VarSpd1_X_1 to respectively.VarSpd1_X_4) that can be used to control Tunze Streams Pumps or lighting ballasts with 0-10V variable intensity features. Also it automatically adds two lights (to the system to support the Aqua Illuminations interface). The default names for the LED lights are BluLED_X_5 and WhtLED_X_6 for the blue and white LEDs It says nothing about a royal blue outlet. |

Haha.....I found that same thread. Thanks Brad. I did update the firmware and still nothing. I have sent an email to Neptune so we'll see what they come back with
|
Did you update your main control first? I'm running 4.10_6D11. Then ran the "update firmware" for the VDM module.. it just worked for me.
|
I have found the solution to my problem; although I'm not at home and doing this all from work so I can't physically see the lights.
It turns out the third blue outlet that has been missing is at the very bottom of my outlet list. it does not appear in order with the White and Blue. I hope this helps the other fellow who said he was in the same boat. Also Brad, thank you very much for your help. It's greatly appreciated. |
Oh, right. It won't be in order, it gets added to the bottom :)
|
YUP, worked for me too! Thanks a bunch guys!
|
Sweet....well there's two happy customers for the day
