Looks good! I like the spread. It looks nice and even.

Delphinus 08-20-2012 03:54 PM

I agree, looks great!

What were you using before?

The shimmer in the tank is crazy. Makes the tank actually sparkle

SeaHorse_Fanatic 08-20-2012 05:37 PM

Burgess,

Highly recommend you turn the power settings waaaaay down or you'll photo-shock your corals, especially that beautiful red lobo.

BTW, time to get a better camera:wink:

Amazing spread on the kessils, I am surprised 2 units can cover a 120g so well, don't even see any dark spots...

Are these able to be controlled? Do they come on they're own timers?

Looks pretty clean now and more room for your arm to move in the tank!

Thanks Seahorse, I know. I've only got them at 50% on both channels.
Was just testing the max settings for my " crappy photoshoot from my crapberry "

No timers or software Chris. Perfect for me. No programming, just point and shoot. You can adjust the intensity of each spectrum individually, but that's about it. Just plug them into any appliance timer and you're good to go.

Rookie question here, are they halides or LEDs?

burgerchow 08-20-2012 09:46 PM

Yeah, they sure clean up the tank. No more large ballasts and large fixtures.
I think they give more shimmer than my halides did

So it has no external ballast?

No ballasts, just a small power supply the same size and style as a laptop

Kool. Thanks

I bought two of them a few months back, my first lights ever. I love the shimmer too! Let me know how your corals do under them in a few months. Are you going to be running just the LEDs or an additional light for some UV?

I really like them so far, and the corals are doing great. Slowly ramping them up to acclimatize the corals. Started at 50% the first day , then 10% increases daily until I get to full maximum

Much, much slower my friend. What seems dim to our eyes with LEDs is often bright enough for the corals (especially if we're used to seeing MH lights).

Ok, will keep it at 60% for a week before moving up. Thanks
