Favorite Clown Fish

Hey everyone,
I am starting to look into my next livestock purchase for my tank and I am thinking of getting a pair of clownfish.
This led me to wondering, what kind of clown do I want?
so...
What is everyone's favorite type of clown fish? Post pics if you have them!

I think right now I am leaning towards some black/white oscellaris but we will see.

designer clown

Designer clown fish are quite popular now a days but you do pay more. Oscellaris is a good choice for your first clowns.

Love the black/white oscellaris. I have em' at home and at the shop.

Nizzmo 08-09-2012 10:22 PM

I like the cinnimon or maroon clownfish, but you can only have one... apparently they are aggressive to other clownfish ?

Reef Supplies 08-09-2012 10:28 PM

All clowns are some what aggressive, but maroon's are beyond and above.....feisty little buggers lol.

My faves are the black and white clowns, also have a pair of clarkiis.

look up Seychelles clowns. Amphiprion fuscocaudatus. Never could find them among wholesaler lists. Wondering if it has to do with the rampant pirates around the Seychelles... or maybe just lack of significant collectors from the area.

I love black ice. Dark red color with black on top and white pattern...sweet!

fishytime 08-10-2012 01:33 AM

I like Nemo (the cartoon version).....only clown fish to make it near my tank:mrgreen:

That's my next clown. I wish it'd get released already:neutral:. It will get paired with my premium snowflake http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/t...x/DSC_0067.jpg
But I also have a soft spot for a nice black & white occelaris.

I've always liked maroon clowns and I was temped to get a pair of snowflake clowns (however my wallet said no ) but they are very pretty. So I ended up getting a pair of true perc's and not only did they amazingly host my RBTA immediately after entering into my tank they have been very enjoyable to watch  I also really like the black and orange contrast they have.

Here's a pic of my true perc's. The female has a little black dot on her fin and the male's middle strip goes out sideways like a picasso clownfish making them unique

Tbh I love my little saddled clowns, they're in a biocube together with a mini carpet that they surprisingly try to host.

I have a spawning pair of Maroons at home in a cluster of GBTAs. I realize they have a bad rep for aggression, but my pair is actually quite tolerant of my hand/arm in the tank. They also get along fine with their cohabitants, a Yellow Tang, Singapore Angelfish, Mandarin Dragonet & Yellowtail Damsel. There's little to no conflict there either. The Damsel stays out of everyone's way since he's still small & the last fish I added. Even when there's a clutch of eggs, the female Maroon is ok with me messing around in the display as long as I don't venture too close. The female Maroon was one of the first fish I purchased as a juvenile & can't imagine my system without her. Went through the ordeal of buying a second Maroon & the harrowing pairing procedure.

I think your snowflake would look better in my tank with my Wyoming White Dawn!

X2 if I could find 2 of these I would set up a tank just for them.

My clowns

I bought these Picasso Clowns about 6 months ago as babies. Ran home every day to check on them since. Now they are sexed, hopefully babies soon.

Oops, I meant my next clown is going to be the black snowflake(not released yet) not the black ice(those are already out).
