shutdown - all colonies/corals for sale (calgary)

I am preparing for a shut-down of my 400g. Short story is the costs of running this tank are too great and it's not a high priority at the moment.

I am home today/tonight and welcome people to come by and grab what they like. Anytime between now and 10pm.

Colonies will range in price from $20 to $100. This includes SPS, LPS, softies, acans, gorgs and a clam. Anyone that's met me knows I'm also reasonable and open to bargaining especially if you want multiple things or a rock that has several pieces on it. Bring buckets or pails please as my ziplock bags will not do the trick here!

Please text my cell with your name and time you'd like to come.

Only disclaimer is my tank has aiptasia. Perhaps a non issue if I can cut a colony off the rock. If you need to take rock with you (I won't be charging extra for rock) then at least you know.

Thanks,
Brett

+1, see your tank was my inspiration for me to have my 10 feet tank. I hope some miracle happens that you can keep your tank

I am keeping it in a way. All the glass is the same thickness as the sub-floor in the rest of the room if you follow me =)

I'll be the first to say this has me confused. You're NOT going to tear the tank apart are you?

lastlight 06-29-2012 04:34 PM

Yes the tank will be dismantled as well as the fishroom.

sphelps 06-29-2012 04:35 PM

I'll trade you actual sub-floor for the tank

mseepman 06-29-2012 04:36 PM

And I thought I was sad when you shut down the last tank! Since I am setting up a fair sized tank myself...could you PM me what costs pushed you over the edge? I would love to be prepared for something in cased I've overlooked a particular cost.

fooser 06-29-2012 04:39 PM

It is sad, you put in the sweat and the blood to turn your ingenuity onto a work of art. But at least you realized a part of it and had it up for a little while :)

I am sure I will still find you creeping around from time to time

If you ever want to do a small SPS nano, I can make you some frags when things grow out, although I think an SPS nano would be more maintenance than your system now unless you have a fish room for your nano too

lastlight 06-29-2012 04:41 PM

duncans pending.

lastlight 06-29-2012 05:02 PM

Coralgurl 06-29-2012 05:24 PM

Sad to see this go!! Such an inspirational set up and fun to watch grow out! Hope you aren't totally getting out of the hobby!

I have always wanted to do one too on my main level in the kitchen, but keeping parameters up on a really showstyle SPS nano would be a daily battle .... Zoas on the other hand.. that is something you can leave alone for weeks and not worry about it. Variety of colors, hardy enough to withstand alk and calcium changes, and althoughthey look great in high light, they can manage with medium lighting too.

Ever think about a colorful zoa tank? or are they just not your thing? Noticed you don't have much interest to keep zoas in your 400.

lastlight 06-29-2012 05:35 PM

I could never keep them alive to be honest

beginner coral my butt!
