I would love to have one of these guys, are they bulldozers too? knocking rock over?

dc4 06-16-2012 04:57 AM

They won't knock stuff over, rather they will pick up anything that's not glued down. (Eg. Any frags)

I've got 4 tuxedos, 2 large ( had them over 3 years) and 2 tiny ones. The big ones are getting so big that they can't get into the crevices, so I got the tiny ones to do that job). Keeps the tank really clean, along with 3 long spine urchins, a triton, couple hundred snails, and 2 emerald crabs.

I always wanted to glue some zoas to a hermit or snail

Love my urchins, keeps the tank clean. ( I'm known as the devil to some people, so Satan's spawn would be appropriate )

What please are some of the pros/cons of a tuxedo urchin? I don't mind the stealing of coral bits, kinda neat.

burgerchow 06-17-2012 10:38 PM

pros: look cool, with their deep royal blue color.
eats algae, keeps your rocks and tanks clean

cons: loose stuff gets stuck to them,
don't eat hair algae.

I've got 4 in my main display and 1 in my nano.
I think they live a long time, cause the 2 large ones have been in my tank for over 3 years, and they were probably a few years old when I aquired them.
