Thoughts on skimmers then
Seeing that I'm bored at work, and I know how everyone here loves polls & voicing their personal opinions. Let's do another one for my benefit.
As per the last one, I am soliciting opinions for my new tank system. It is a 90 gallon internal overflow tank with a durso draining to a 30 gallon sump. The return pump will push approx. 700GPH This will be a mid to high bioload tank, starting with LPS and fishes, but the goal will be a mixed reef system. I presently have a brand new SWC 160 extreme Cone, so it will be part of the poll. I would like to keep this around the 400.00 level so BK's and other high end skimmers are out of my budget. Choices are: 1) Skimz SM161 http://www.conceptaquatics.ca/index.php/sm121-2.html 2) Tunze DOC Protein Skimmer - 9011 http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/tz...er+-+9011.html 3) Tunze DOC Protein Skimmer - 9410 http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/tz...er+-+9410.html 4) SWC Xtreme 200 protein Skimmer http://www.saltwaterconnection.com/i...d9fca0f9ef5901 5) SWC Xtreme 180 Cone Protein Skimmer http://www.saltwaterconnection.com/i...roducts_id=149 6) SWC Xtreme 160 Cone Protein Skimmer http://www.saltwaterconnection.com/i...roducts_id=116 7) Bubble Magus NAC7 Protein Skimmer http://www.goreef.com/Bubble-Magus-N...n-Skimmer.html 8) Bubble Magus New Hero 180-S Protein Skimmer http://www.goreef.com/Bubble-Magus-N...n-Skimmer.html 9) Coralife Super Skimmer - Needle Wheel  http://www.goreef.com/Coralife-Super...0-Gallons.html 10) Other Lots of choices here. Feel free to express your opinions >>>>>>>>>>>>>> |

I use a SWC 180 cone on my 165gal mixed reef. Good no nonsense skimmer. No muss no fuss. Makes a cupful of nasty green/brown sludge every 2-3 days. Very easy to clean as well.
|
I would say one of the smaller Reef Octo Cone skimmers would be the best fit. Bubble Blaster pumps are really good for the price.
|
Marineland MSPS300? I got this one I just don't know if it was good buy or not.

Still not 100 % on this one but
After consulting with a few and the opinions here, I am going to start out with my current skimmer. SWC160 cone.
