Dimable LED Driver

Need help finding a LED driver's Brands. Right now I have an Inventronics dimable LED driver. But when I dim it down to zero and there are still some percent of lights going through. Wonder if there any other brands have a zero percent of light going through when I dim it to zero.

Thanks for your help.

i have meanwell drivers and its the same as yours.

What are you using to dim them with? Which Meanwell do you have Troni? Many drivers require a hard power cut once they get down to 5%...if you use a controller, then this is very do-able...if not, it gets harder.

Potentiometer for manual dimming.
DA ALC controller.
I don't think it can goes down to 5%.

I have 2 Meanwells dimmed manually by a pot that go completely off. No visible light. I have the inventronics that dims but has to turned off via a controller outlet. I would have thought the other Meanwell would be the same.

Do you know which model you are using?

kole 04-16-2012 09:57 PM

The model is ELN-60-48D picked them up from modularled. I wonder if the P version goes off completely.

reefme 04-16-2012 10:01 PM

Hi Troni, which model is yours?

martinmcnally 04-16-2012 10:53 PM

Meanwell drivers like ELN-60-48D are capable of dimming to zero provided the controller can go to zero. If using a potentiometer it should go all the way to zero.

However Inventronics can only go to around 10-14% depending on the model. That is if you supply zero volts on the dimming line you will still get 10-14% on the LEDs.

For inventronics most people will dim all the way to zero using a controller then have the drivers switch off either using a Profilux EVG card or Apex Energy Bar.

i have meanwell 60-48D, using a potentiometer and when i dim it all the way down you can still see that the led has current flowing through it.

Whose right and whose wrong

I have 8 inventronics drivers on my lights and they will not dim to complete zero ( as in OFF ) unless the power is cut to the driver by my controller. The best solution for your situation Kevin is to have a timer to turn off the power to the driver.

I do have a controller. But I like it when it start at 10% and off at 10%.

The Grizz 04-17-2012 02:38 AM

That's what I have mine set to do as well, controller turns power on / off at 10% on all drivers.

I think mine is more than 10%. Too bad its can not be dim down to zero (no lights) so the fish wont get scared.

Do you have all your LED's on one driver coming on all at once?

troni 04-17-2012 02:51 AM

i dunno i know when mine are dimmed all the way down it stills has a glow no light just glows.

One for blue and one for white. Blue on first and off after.

troni 04-17-2012 03:01 AM

I'm in bed now and my lights are off but I think from on to glow is a big difference ill check tomorrow and update.

The Grizz 04-17-2012 03:03 AM

Do you have any moon lights? I noticed that before I installed my moon lights when the first row of blues the fish would startle but after I put in the moon lights it was much less of a shock.

No, not yet. What colours are your moon light? white, blue or red?

The Grizz 04-17-2012 03:09 AM

Blue.

reefme 04-17-2012 03:19 AM

Thanks Greg. Will add two Mean Well with a few blue LEDs to dim it down to zero and add a few moon lights.

troni 04-17-2012 01:39 PM

What would be purpose of using a different color?

reefme 04-17-2012 01:46 PM

I think sunlight has multicolor.
