ID this fish please
I bought this fish and was sold under the name yellow tang. I know its not a regular yellow tang cause its body and fins are different. Any help is appreciated
|
Its a false yellow tang aka lemon peel angel
|
I dont think its an angel....my guess is mimic tang or a juvenile of some other tang like an atlantic blue or something....
|
Juvenile blue tang I think.
|
I'm going with a juvenile Mimic Tang

False, Mimic, what's the difference ? http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/imag...stirthepot.gif Hehe |
From the shape of its mouth, it's a tang, not an (lemonpeel) angel. A lot of juv. tangs can mimic an angel. Hard to tell what kind of tang it is until it has its adult color and shape.

I've done some research on mimic tangs and i am pretty convinced now that is a lemon mimic tang.
You guys never disappoint! Always great input :) |

It could also be a juvenile Orange Shoulder Tang. I had one for quite a while until it outgrew my tank and then passed on to my LFS. I had it for about a year and it retained the full yellow colour even though it was about 4"-5".
Here is a decent pic that I googled that almost matches your pics. http://oceanimagesnj.com/yahoo_site_...201238_std.JPG |

Looks like a juvenile chocolate mimic tang to me. Definetly not an angel.
Good luck. |
