that piece was added so he could add a piece across the top so a fan could fit in there and attach to the bar that heads behind the tank
|
Don't jump to fast to sell your setup bud, it can't be that expencive to run. Switch to IO Reef Crystal for salt, it's cheaper & a bucket should last you a good amount of time.

i might hold on to the tank. but anyway hows my tank look? i have an anemone in there thats not opening very wide.
|
I think it looks great :)
As for the anemone the tank is still young I was told that its tough to keep nems in younger tanks |
ya. im thinking im might be stressing it out alittle me bothering it to much aswell.
|
UPDATE - well i didnt sell and good thing some stuff died.
anemone is dead clown fish past away. i have 4 pieces of birdnest brown with neonreen polyps bleached all for a tip which is doing well pink which is slowly dying i think another neon green one but polyps dont pop as much but its doing GREAT! i raised it for the second time and upped the diming to over 50 percent and the polyps are doing the best ive seen yet the are loving it. i also adjusted rock work to give me more space for rock placement and less of a big shaded cave. ill add some pictures later. GRIZZ what is your high point light levels at? |
Glad to see you're still in
Sorry 'bout your losses Give your tank some time to mature and you'll love it |
Ya I'm happy too.
With my new lights I'm seeing explosion of good growth. I'm going to give it a month or 2 before new stock hits it. |

i dont have a controller what percentage would be good all day long? i was thinking 70
|
Im not sure exactly what kind of punch your setup has, but I do know that a lot of people have been burning their coral with LEDs lately by going to hard too soon....I would start low and slowly amp it up over a period of time....

That said I think you should tone yours down a bit if your going to run at a set % for your day period. |
Sounds good makes sense, mqaybe ill leave it where it is.

Man that looks fantastic! Love the rimless look and the live rock you have. I did notice that you are using the same overflow as I am! One thing I have found that will massively increase the capacity of that overflow is to put a T at the bottom and instead of having one open pipe, have two. One is lower and is your main overflow, and the other you put at your max level and is your emergency overflow. Using 1.5" PVC I put through about 1,300Gal/hr without any issues at all. I could easily handle more.
The other thing I do is put an aqualifter at the top where it goes over the rim of the tank and then back into the overflow pipe. It sucks out any bubbles that might get in there and really helps with sleeping at night. With the double overflow, you really need to make sure your pump can handle it as to little flow will cause it to suck air. Love the tank! Thanks for the pics! =D |
thanks, but it got torn down.
having a T would be a good idea but what if it got plugged past the T? also the second pipe wouldnt let more flow down because it all goes back to one size. i was having some gurgling and after more research next time i would make the air balancing piece straight up from the last drop to the sump if thats makes sense. what size of tank do you have? |
