Easy come easy go
Easy come easy go........
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...t/46C44253.jpg .......(just for Tony ).......I finished my last day at my old daycare job this past friday......and much to my surprise......they gave me a $200.00 gift card to AI which I promptly spent today on fish and fish food  Got another yasha goby (really hope he finds the candy cane pistol and pairs up with it) and I made a window mesh screen/egg create lid to keep him in (no way he's jumping out) http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...t/ACC85290.jpg http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...t/2DA0C85D.jpg and I got a Kuiteri wrasse (mine is a bit paler then the pic below, but so far seems to be settling in well) I will take a pic of mine when I get around to cleaning the tank glass. http://www.liveaquaria.com/images/ca...eri-wrasse.jpg http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...68&pcatid=2968 |
very nice laurie!!

Yup, that mesh'll do the job
Nice wrasse |
Why not just get a glass top? Glass will block way less light than the egg-crate with mesh on top.

If this was a FW tank, I might say different, but I'd rather have mesh and evaporation any day with SW. Besides, the mesh and eggcrate doesn't block much more light than glass. The walls of the squares are very thin, so there's very little reflection. And glass does block a lot of the spectrum. The eggcrate is only reflecting white light. And ... who likes cleaning up salt creep? |
Damn, I forgot all the ...... ...... ......'s

That wrasse is freaking awesome! But... um... if I were you, I'd readjust your little "feeding" lid there. It looks like theres some open space? IME, fish will find a hole no matter how small or oddly placed. JMO, I've had some very determined fish over the years :razz:
Oh and I can't believe your job gave you a GC for a fish store! How awesome is that?! I like to think my friends and family know me pretty well but I still get spa and clothing store GCs for christmas and birthdays  |
I can't find a pic for you on the net, but there is a trapezoid-shaped door you can buy @ Home Depot ( at we can here in BC ).
Do you remember when we were kids, and you had to open the little door in the screen to open and close the window? I was originally thinking about using one for each side of my tank and make the whole top out of bug screen with no eggcrate. I bailed on the time-consuming idea for now, but I may do it later on. |

Ya the gift card was pretty awesome, I was there for just over 12 yrs so that is why I got a gift card. Personally I think why it was as generous as it was (usually a parting gift card would be $50-$100) was because my boss probably felt guilty for freaking out on me 3 weeks ago when she was stressed out. Just because you're under a lot of stress shouldn't mean you get to take it out on me  Unfortunately she had a bad habit of doing this and because I'm a nice person I just took it in stride, but I finally had enough and I'm glad I'm moving on to a new job. Forgot to mention: Extra added bonus my new yasha found the pistol shrimp and they are living together in the same spot the last one did :cheer2: |
Ok so I posted pic's of my new kuiteri wrasse in my tank journal thread click below to see

Have you ever tested this with a par meter . I would be careful who u argue with. I tested the mesh, egg crate and glass lids vs Mike. I was totally surprised that mesh and egg crate blocked half the light as where glass blocked almost nothing. Even dirty glass was a total surprise for me. But it was a cool test with the par meter. |
