"Ultra" LPS Show Off Thread

Please post pics of your "ultra" LPS corals! Please post the genus of your coral as well as the name of the color morph if it has one. It would be great if people could also post credits to the vendors! :D

Please keep chatter to a minimum and for the love of LPS, please do not photo quote!!

Particularly colorful? Wonderfully drool worthy? Something I would really want to put in my tank? Translate however you want... that's why I put "ultra" in quotations. ;) Just looking for a thread I can visit and stare in wonder and awe at the pics. Hehehehe....

"Mouth Bleeding Apple" Definitely qualifies for an Ultra !!!
Wow

tim the toolman 03-05-2012 03:22 AM

Those are some drool worthy shots alright. Keep em coming.

Myka 03-05-2012 03:27 AM

Why did you have to photo quote RuGlu??? Wreaks the thread... :(

Left click photo, hit "delete" button (not backspace). That way you can quote the words in the message without quoting the photo. :)

reefermadness 03-05-2012 03:31 AM

This is a great idea Mindy...Ive seen this on other forums and they are awesome to go back, revisit and drool at all the pictures.

As you wish. deleted the photo. Are you ok with modified name "Mouth Bleeding Apple"?
And why do you think it wrecks the thread? The pic is so beautiful ...

Myka 03-05-2012 03:43 AM

RuGlu, seeing the same photo over again isn't fun. It's nice to see NEW photos! Don't mean to take the fun out of it, but it makes for a better thread. :) I don't mind "Mouth Bleeding Apple".

Oh nice Darryl! I have a mini colony of the Dragon Soul "Favia" too. I don't think it is a Favia (I think Goniastrea), but it seems to be commonly called Favia. I also have a small frag of the last one you posted which Fragalot calls "Aussie Nuclear Favia"...I wanted a bigger piece, but it was all fragged up already. :( Yours are nice size! *jealous*

here's a tracha....something...

quick question for all the lps pros - i feed it a few times a week but i have noticed the color has gone from a deep red to almost a transluecent pinky red. I have it in a shallow tank with an 8 bulb ATI sunpower over it. Do you think i am probably bleaching it or over feeding it?

this is what it looked like when i first got it -
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/a...l/P1010355.jpg
thanks guys!

reefermadness 03-05-2012 03:20 PM

Lightening of corals is caused by not enough food and/or too much light....just the opposite of brown corals which indicate too much nutrient (NO3/PO4) and/or not enough light.

Corals may get lighter once in your tank and it may be just as healthy or even more healthy but you have to watch and make sure that they are still happy, growing and not going too far down the path to bleaching. Bascially if you like it pink rather than red and the brain seems to not be getting lighter and lighter and is happy ....no problem.
