polished aluminum sheets

Anybody know of a source for polished aluminum sheet?
I want to re-do the canopy for my 150g, and need a sheet for a reflector that is approx 18"x72".

You may consider the using of catering aluminium foil which you can easily purchased at superstore, safeway... or just borrow some from your wife at the kitchen.

check your local hydroponics store.

They carry highly relective polished reflector material on a roll. Sold by the foot usually.

what about a chunk of roof flashing from a hardware store?

Aluminium duct tape works well and available at all hardware stores

Maybe just a better brand, the stuff I used was sticky as hell, no way humidity will take it off.

what about Mylar, its a super reflective sheet of plastic, like wraping paper almost, could probably use contact cement or something. or else what about a mirror? I had an old nano cube before that I made a hood for an put a mirror inside, it was bright as hell

i am contemplating doin this myself with the tape or possibly mirrored plexy glass

i've used mirrored plexi and it worked well, also it was easy to clean the salt creep

Just get some flat aluminum sheet and polish it with Mothers Aluminum polish and one of there powerballs. I just completed a job for the Alberta Hall of Fame and I had to do this to the custom picture pillars i built. You can see yourself in the reflection.

Since youare in richmond, check out Japanese dollar store Diaso in Aberdeen center if you have never been there. I almost bought a splash guard for stove tops..made of cardboard and aluminized sheet. That place is full of unique stuff you will probably think of other DIY stuff.

Also, I think Rustan metals in east vancouver ( up north clark/hastings area) might have aluminum for you. Phone them... I believe they can do custom parts / etc. too.

Lastly, if you ggot some money to do a DIY end cap or holder, check out www.shapeways.com/.. they do 3d printing in stainless or alumide. You can do the 3d model in Sketchup which is free. Parts are relatively cheap.

The easiest/cheapest methods I've found are mirror plexi and mylar.

Mirror acrylic/Plexi is my favorite. Very easy to work with. Cut with tablesaw/circular saw. You can curve it without much effort, tight curves need some heat.

Even cheaper is mylar film. Ask at your local hydroponics store. Thinner than aluminum foil, but much stronger, I find it's best applied with spray adesive (I use stay put, it's used for countertops and is great in humidity and heat.)
