Euroreef Replacement pump?

I've got a ER RS180 kicking around that could use a new pump. anyone have a recommendation for a decent, yet inexpensive pump? Something that mates to the skimmer with little mucking around?

An Aquabee pump will fit. I think the grey plumbing is the same size, if not then a slieve will work also.

I don't see a lot (as in none) places to buy those :) Got any sources?

BlueTang<3 02-20-2012 02:38 PM

i believe aqua digital sells auabee pumps now.

My Euroreef 180 has a modified Eheim 1260.

Hmmm BRS used to but I just checked and they don't seem to have any but do still have a slot for them. Maybe give them a call?

Sounds expensive :)

I missed the "inexpensive" part of your post. The modified Eheim was over $200.

Ya, like to cut that in about half or less :)

Yep, talk to AD. He knows all.:twised:

sedra? I know my ER takes the sedra 9000 impeller, I think the Sedra is about the same size/shape as the pump that was on it.

Ya, my CS8-3 uses 2 Sedras. I may just look for one of those.

paddyob 02-20-2012 03:23 PM

I think Sedra made the original pump for the Euroreefs.

Both ER I had came with Sedra.

sphelps 02-20-2012 03:24 PM

Why not just get another gen-x pump? Probably the cheapest and surely the easiest. If you use the original impeller even better.

The listing for this skimmer new says a GenX 4100, but earlier models all came with Sedras, I believe. I think I had a spare and gave it away, always the case

Not sure what came with this, I was just given the body without pump. Or rather, it comes with a beat up resun pump that doesn't quite line up, and has a different volute with it.

Any Canadian distributors that you know of?

christyf5 02-20-2012 03:31 PM

my current ER250 has a genx pump. My older ER, the CS6-3 had a dolphin pump which was exactly the same as (and I think made by) Sedra

I know OA sells Sedra pumps, talk to Wendell :)

sphelps 02-20-2012 03:32 PM

Should be the GenX-4100 unless it's really old then a Sedra 9000. Either one should run around $150 with the needle wheel and venturi.

Another option is the Bubble Blaster HY-3000 Pin Wheel Water Pump which is around $200 I think, a little more airflow at a fraction of the power. Haven't used one before but they look quiet too.

Skimmerking 02-20-2012 03:34 PM

Brad if you are looking for a good solid pump look at the ehiem this is my thoughts the sedra the impeller seems to over drive it's self to match the air it's pulls. Euroreef did a study a while back on what pumps lasted the longest and pulled the decent amount of air. That is when they switched to ehiem which made their sales go up. I think brad from my own experience a ehiem would suit u best just sayin

Aquattro 02-20-2012 03:36 PM

Mike, that's more than I want to spend, by a lot. :) There's a post for the same skimmer with pump for less than the cost of an ehiem!

lngrhaul 02-20-2012 03:47 PM

I also had the ER with gen-x pump but couldn't get a replacement gen-x. the Sedra was the closest for reasonable cost.
