crazy glue

I was wondering if there is any difference between crazy glue and coral glue?

I've heard it the same thing just thicker glue and a slower curing time with coral glue.

Any thoughts?

Use the crazy glue in the gel form. Works great. Did the sniff test with each in a baggy and the crazy glue won hands down. J/k But not on first sentence, it does work good.

Coral glue is simply the gel crazy glue (cyanoacrylate)

crazy glue like the others said. I love the fact that it dries under water (and this surprised me on my first coral). I like Loctite gel seems to do the trick Its was recommended to me by another reefer at one point

Just buy the thick gel version, not the liquidy runny glue.

Have used generic dollar store crazy glue and the coral glue from J&L for years with no issues.

Coral glue is actually one of those rare instances where it is cheaper to buy at a LFS...... Those little tubes of crazy glue and loctite only have 6ml of glue in then and sell for $5 ish ..... The bottles of coral glue have 25ml if I remember correctly and cost about $18

I buy mine at hobby stores for around $8-10 for the 25ml size, if one is close it might be worth while to check.

We used to buy in bulk from a local hobby shop ($8-9/bottle) but then they raised the price to $12+ so I just buy a couple of bottles at J&L on Boxing Day. When I run out, I'll buy the 3-4ml ones from the dollar stores for a buck each and use those when making only a few frags at a time.

I just bought an overpriced tube at my LFS just for that very reason!!

SeaHorse_Fanatic 01-14-2012 04:18 PM

The price difference around here between J&L or OA's glue and the hobby shop is not a lot so, yeah, I just buy the bottles from my fishie buddies.

Thanks everyone I thought they were the same.

Fish aren't my only hobby, I've got other local stores to support as well. If I save a few bucks in the process it's win win!

I love the Ecotech glue and plan on buying another. Sweet having that much at your fingertips (or in my case ON my fingertips) vs the loctite I used to buy (very small tube contained within the fancy squeeze bottle).

wayner 01-15-2012 02:45 PM

The Ecotech Glue - that the one for 50 bucks?

thats pure hog wash. maybe if you buy a tiny tube, but anything gets cheeper with volume.

Lee Valley sells super T which is a molasses consistancy for 8.60 for 29.5 ml. and there not the cheepest place to buy stuff.

Well I live outside the city so for me tO spend 20 bucks on gas to buy a 20 dollar bottle of glue at a lfs. In which case I can't leave with just glue usually ends up in 100 bucks or more spent. Lol

Local home hardware loctite is 7 bucks. I think that's a better idea

No was 18 or 20 from coral master can't recall...

Doug 01-15-2012 03:15 PM

I use ZapGel sometimes when I make an order. Otherwise thick gel superglue from the dollar store, for a dollar of course.

burgerchow 01-16-2012 03:32 PM

Plus 1 ont the ecotech glue. It's thicker and sets in 30 seconds. No need for any accelerators. Best glue I've ever used for corals, and I've got them all ( I do rc racing and have all kinds of ca and epoxy glues)
