Seen that thread and it's the same as retail. Looking for used.

Jason, you cheap bugger.

intarsiabox 12-29-2011 07:27 PM

Not used, but Eli (caco3reef) carries a type of reactor that looks like an RO system container that doesn't require sponges and is really easy to clean out. Lenny has the same ones except from BRS (i believe) and runs them off her return pump using a tee and ball valve and she loves them just for the ease of changing the media compared to the TLF type. I use TLF reactors right now but I think I might switch over. They are $40 for one but discounted for multiples.

lol I already spent money on a dual brs reactor and it's clogging within a week. So I need to spend more for another couple reactors. I'm trying to reduce this spending habit if you know what I mean.

perhaps I can mod the dual brs?

Patrick, you're just as cheap.

Jason,
Try ordering the insert made especially for BP from BRS to fit inside your reactor!
I ordered two and love them. They certainly will clog in the long run, but not as often as if using the usual sleeve and modified craft thingy...

I have an extra one if you'd like to try it out before you order...
Lenny.

The only thing driving mine up is the EcoBak pellets. Toss me an offer for the pump/reactor and I might split them up.

On another note, my BRS reactor clogs up as well. The best thing to do is put less carbon in it or throw a mag pump on it. I went from a MJ1200 to a MAG2 and it was a drastic difference... I couldn't believe it.

Nothing is wrong with ecobak. It works fine and does not clump at all.

Brand is preference only. Based on research I did and posts through this forum.

Next mod would be removing the filter film on the bottom of the cartridge and replace it with a foam as this will lighten the pressure needed and still act as a filter for your media.I could send you some photos of the mod if you like.

No idea how far away Spruce Grove is from Edmonton, but BlueTang<3 has 2 TLF reactors for sale.

Yea yea ken. My wife ensures I'm cheap. Keeps my tank running!

The more I save on devices, the more I spend on livestock. My tank was set up 75% used gear.... At 50% cost of new. My wife smiled.

The fish... All new. Except my tang. Used for three years.

Ha ha.

RedCoralEdmonton 12-31-2011 03:03 AM

In all honesty patrick that is the smartest thing one can do, I recommend all the time for people to buy used.... Even give them advise on what is a good deal and what to watch out for, last thing most people need is to spend a fortune on a sweet tank and then run out of funds for the fun stuff! Although new is good too haha
