LF Berghia Nudibranches Edmonton area

If you have some that you can sell me, please pm the price you want for them. The aiptasias are winning and I would like to do something about it before it's too late. I will consider a Bristle-Tail Filefish (Acreichthys tomentosus) too. Thanks.

Tagging along, if you find more than you need let me know, I'd be interested as well.

Borderjumper 12-29-2011 08:16 AM

I've got a couple dozen here in Victoria BC.. Shipping this time of year is a problem tho... If you can't find any locally let me know and maybe we could find a way that would work.

monocus 12-29-2011 08:48 AM

berghia

i have about 70 -$14 each-shipping is about $35-$40 to alberta

Frankly Canadian 12-29-2011 02:38 PM

I could use a few of those, I have been looking for them for some time now. I've never bought any live stock over the internet, I wonder if shipping to Kelowna would be ok.

Oilers 12-29-2011 03:58 PM

I'll see if I can get some locally before I try getting them from afar. Like Borderjumper has said, shipping at this time of the year can be a problem.

How many would I need for 150G tank with about 30+ aiptasias?

BlueWorldAquatic 12-29-2011 07:11 PM

too many, for that much you would need 30 pepermint shrimp/

just get a good copperband or filefish.

I know the copperband in my personal tank killed them all off in a week

Ken

Ken,
Do you have a good copperband or filefish in store?

BlueWorldAquatic 12-29-2011 07:15 PM

I'll be right over.. Lol. I can't seem to find one that's eating though. I'd hate to chance it but maybe I could pass him along.

Oilers 12-31-2011 03:38 AM

Parker,
Did you get the filefish from BWA? Ken told me somebody bought it when I went to the store. Bought myself a nice looking CBB. Hopefully it will help me getting rid of those aiptasias for good.

have to be patient. They don't go at it right away. They will eventually start to eat aptaisia. Mine took few weeks before it starts going at. Just make sure it eat prep food/mysis before you buy it.

BlueWorldAquatic 12-31-2011 04:58 AM

These are all eating frozen quite well. Love aiptasia too, the one I took home cleaned my tank in a week

No, I already have a filefish. Had it for months and it hasn't touched a one, this is my second one that didn't eat them. I picked up a CBB while I was there.

Parker 12-31-2011 11:46 AM

That was short a short lived experiment, the CBB was dead this morning.

the only thing that is 100% effective is a berghia as it is all that they eat,and i have tried everything except for a filefish-a bannerfish also eats them, but again its hit or miss

reefgirl189 12-31-2011 07:16 PM

Introducing a copperband in a newly established aquarium would be a bad idea, right?

I feel like I'm also losing the aptasia battle. I need a solution before things get to out of hand here. Lemon juice ain't cutting it anymore.

Brightwhite 12-31-2011 07:35 PM

Aptasia X?

Have to go to the city for that and we're not going until next weekend.
Maybe I'll just got more lime juice. At least it's fun to watch them shrivel up, even if they aren't really dieing.

Oilers 12-31-2011 08:29 PM

Parker,
Sorry to hear the news about your CBB. What happened? Did it get bullied by other fishes?

Not quite sure what happened, I didn't notice any one picking on him too bad. Just bad luck I guess.
