Euro-Reef skimmer question

Did any Euro-Reef user had an experence of too much bouble overflod the collection cup all the time?

I set the water level of the skimmer at the lowest position, set the waterlevel in the sump about 4 inches high and then let it ran for 2 days none stop for it to break in my system.....but still....the bouble fill up the cup within just 10 seconds amd start to overflow......damn......

salinity is around 023, temp 77F, NO2, NO3 almost 0

PLEASE HELP~

Did you have a skimmer before installing this unit?, is the pump the recommended size.?

You can let the collection drop back into the sump for the first few days.

Half of the tank is filled with my old 15gallon water without skimmer (only LS and LR and water change every week)
and another half is newly mixed saltwater.

I did let the collection drop back to the sump...but still.....

I never heard anyone else has this kind of problem (the owner of my LFS says so too.....)    :frown:

Did you add anything to the water, such as a conditioner ? That'll do it.

UnderWorldAquatics 02-20-2004 09:39 PM

as EmilyB said, conditioners can cause alot of extra bubbles, especially the type of conditioners that advertise that they "coat" your fish... also medications such as "melafix" create volcanic bubble eruptions in skimmers....

will red slime remover cause this to happen?

EmilyB 02-21-2004 02:25 AM

Yes, BIG TIME

I only put the right amount of "Aqua Safe" to my RO water......is it gonna cause the problem?

thank you all for replying!

EmilyB 02-22-2004 10:38 PM

If you have to use a conditioner, use Prime. It will not affect your skimmer.

Tetra Aquasafe will definitely cause flooding of the skimmer cup. It happens to me everytime I use Aquasafe with all of my skimmers.

Jack 02-22-2004 10:59 PM

Just curious, why do you put aquasafe in your RO water?

yifan917 02-23-2004 07:58 AM

Jack:

I donno....just to play save I guess..... :)

Emily:

so...get "Prime"?? are they everywhere? or I have to order online?

btw, so what can I do with my current water now? :frown:

Jack 02-23-2004 08:02 AM

Okay, but it's really not needed.

Old Guy 02-23-2004 02:39 PM

J&L and King Ed sells Prime but as Jack has stated"its really not needed." Waste of money IMO. Let your skimmer run. It will stop going nuts after a short period of time.
