Little Green Box Under Post Count?
Just noticed this 'reputataion' feature today & when pointer hovers over it, something about being 'on a distinguished road'. Also noticed that some of them are blacked out & when hover pointer, the person (seems like mainly mods/staff) has it disabled. Checked profile settings, options etc. & unable to find any info on this apparently new feature. Anyone else noticed or tried to unsuccessfully to modify the setting? Mods/staff care to elaborate? Thanks.

I think Titus has it set up so the mod / staff can disable there's but the members can't. What ever the purpose is for the Rep Power as it relates to the board it would not serve it purpose if members could disable.

Dang, I guess I'll have to live with being distinguished, even though I don't think I really am! Alternative would be to jump in on that newly created SWC thread, post something nasty & see what colour my green box turns to after a few of those.

Playing with fire there :twised:

Yup, it's a setting under Quick Links>Edit Options. Not sure if everyone can set it or not.

Don't see it in mine, must be just a mod / staff thing. Maybe Titus disabeled them for whatever reason.

Hmm, sometimes I hate it when I notice stuff like this. Think I might have to start using "Invisible Mode". Just wanna be an ordinary schmoe & post in peace man & if I'm out of line, gimme a smack. Reputation - Schmeputation..... kind of like having a criminal record for all to see. Pardon, I want a pardon...

I still don't even know what it means!! Everyone has a green dot. woohoo. Now what?? I'm supposed to trust buying something from someone because they have a green dot? If they're bad, does it turn red? By default everyone has a green dot. sigh.....

I'll stick to the old method. If you have less than 2 post counts, I'm going to be careful sending you money.. |

If current trends continue I won't be allowed to sell my crap anymore lol. The ole rep is takin hits!

A bit analogous of the original eBay rating system. They have since changed it so buyers can't be given negative feedback, so sellers are at buyer's mercy with little opportunity for a response if the buyer is full of it.
So who enabled the feature here in the first place & why, no heads up to forum members? Took a schmuck like me to bring up the subject. I still haven't been able to change anything since I'm unable to find any options on it. I've seen other forums where a similar feature is used, but it's the text under your avatar/forum handle, where this board shows "junior member" or "member". These seem primarily dependent on post count, so as your count rises, the text changes accordingly, to something like "very respected member" or even "moved on" if the person is given the boot. |
Titus enabled it. We didn't really know that we were getting it either, I'm not sure why some of the staff have it on and some have it off. I just checked and apparently mine is on, and I'm hot stuff .
Really its just fluffy, kind of like pressing "like" on a facebook comment. On other boards its called "karma". I think its just another way to be more interactive on the board but it really means nothing. I'm sure it will be a bit of harmless (hopefully) fun and after we realize it really does nothing for the board it will be turned off... |
well that is neat
