New Era Marine Grazer Review
So i just picked so of these up and initial thoughts are great, fish are loving them. Included in the mini grazer pack comes are 15 mini wafers and the suction cup mount. I placed the wafer in the tank at 9:00 pm on Tuesday night I will see how long it lasts before flaking apart. The wafers are about the size of a toonie . The suction cup has a little push tab that goes in the end to keep the wafer in place.

Great pics and review thanks :) Your tangs sure have taken to it quickly.
I found mine stays pretty intact, if removing it you do get break off but the other fish soon smell the goodies and come swimming over to clean up. I would be inclined to leave it in place until devoured (two days max) and reduced/stop your other feeding. I also found it a good way to do a critter count they all fight for real estate under the block for any escpaing particle :) |
Thats why i placed it in the tank ing the evening, wanted to know how long it would take to flake apart. Overnight about1/2 of the wafer got eaten and as soon as the lights came on agin this morning the tangs were right back on it.

Where did you pick that stuff up at Wes? I have one or two tangs, they might like it as I feed a few sheets of seaweed/nori stuff almost every day.

Picked it up from Red Coral Edmonton, I was feeding a complete sheet or two of nori a day plus either the new era pellets or flakes/ frozen. So far out of my 8 tangs the only one we have not seen touch it is the chevron, and he is the reason I no longer clean the windows and feed so much nori. |
Chevrons are my favourite Tang I have a stunner in my cube, very cute full of tricks. He took to the puck as soon as it was placed a bit lower in the tank. Seems to be fickle in terms of feeding depth, well my one is anyway.
"Do you really expect me to swim up there to get it" |
Here is my Chevron feeding on the puck, sorry for the flicker this was before I switched my LED out to Radion, the PS unit had a failing driver on the blues

I've been using this for a few months now and all my algae eating fish love it.... Tangs, angels, wrasses..... Seems to be a great product!

Well I guess I will have to pick some up next time I am in one of the cities unless..............someone one want to send me a free trail container to see if my fish like it too......just saying

If it wasn't for the fact that I only have one tang (will change in the near future!) I'd have already been all over this. Love the idea.
Nice vid... sustained lightning simulation! |

Any updates on LFS carrying it in BC/Vancouver?
I haven't been to an LFS in a few weeks so I haven't had a chance to ask if anyone is/will be carrying it. Thanks. |

Well came home from work today and the wafer was gone so I took out te suction cup out and immediately most fish went to where it was looking for more. So i put in another one and took your advice and moved the wafer lower and now u the chevron has been all over it.
|
They seem to be more lower level feeders, this is an interesting point that both our Chevrons only take the food at a lower level, where as any other Tang has no preference, greedy as always.
Interesting to see in the wild if Chevrons are more opportunistic feeders  |
That is interesting..... My chevron doesn't seem to be that picky..... I routinely see him at the top of the tank eating algae off the eggcrate on my overflows
|
Ah that sucks you got a faulty one then  :rofl2:
