bubble tip

Myka 10-24-2011 03:52 PM

That is not a bubble tip anemone, that is a large Majano pest anemone.

Oilers 10-24-2011 04:11 PM

Hmm, that sounds bad. I'll remove the pest later today then. Thanks Myka.
Also, thank you to all who responded.

Dont remove it, do a test first. try and touch it with your figure, if it retracts fast and almost disappear's then it could be a majano. Try to get a little better pic before you get rid of it.

Looks a bit like a mojano by try grizz's test. I had some really sweet mojanos on my rock that looked like mini BTAs so I left them. And they were my favorites! As long as they stayed relegated to their little rock and played nice with others they could stay; if one violated house rules it got the flush.

I vote keep it .

I agree, that does not at all look like any pest anemone I have ever seen. Don't remove or destroy it without more evidence. It looks like a bubble tip to me.

Oilers 10-24-2011 07:10 PM

I did a quick googling on Majano pest anemone picture and this is what I got that is pretty close to what I have in the tank.

I'll do the test that the Grizz has suggested later when I get home but for now I think Myka is right. Either way, I'll proceed with caution. It does look quite nice to be thrown into the garbage can

im starting to lean towards majano as well, it looks huge in the pic but the more you look at it closely the more it looks like a majano.

some one gave this to you or it was on a piece of rock??

TimT 10-24-2011 10:14 PM

+1 on Majano

the only anemones i want in my tank are the ones i buy and purposely put there the rest i can do without.regardless of how nice it is majanos reproduce really fast and pack a powerfull sting.green bubble tips are as common as clowns and especially the green ones so not something extra ordinary that i couldnt bring my self to toss or give away if i happened to find one plus they 2 split constantly :):)

reefwars: somebody gave it to me.

Myka 10-25-2011 03:46 PM

If you could get a better picture without any blue/actinic light running it would be easier to ID. I'm still very sure that it is a Majano.

Did they say how they acquired it? Did they produce an ID for you?
