ROX Carbon - Closed ** ARRIVED **
I want to try ROX carbon. Where would the best place be to grab some?
BRS wanted $20 SHIPPING for a $20 container. Nope. Thanks. |

Could not figure out what it would actually cost. I also read his post about it coming from somewhere else. Don't really get it. Is it ROX, or is it Not? Anyone out there who is a die hard ROX fan feel free to comment. Thanks |
I got some ROX 3.1 from him and honestly my water has never been clearer....as for the shipping I had someone pick it up for me so I'm not positive....but I think it's free
|
Shipping is included in the price, or at least it always has been. Great guy to deal with and all his products are very good quality.

"free shipping with any other purchase with free shipping" WTH does that mean???? Anyways. I considered ordering but I was left confused after visiting his site and moved on. |
I think it was confirmed it's not ROX. I'm not sure why it can be marketed as such.
ROX as far as this hobby has known thus far has been extruded carbon and this is also granular. When anyone says ROX they're referring to this specific carbon carried by BRS. I'd love for someone to source it on this side of the border... |

That would be false advertising. And potential for a law suit from the company who trade marked ROX. ROX is made by NORIT AMERICAS. Anything else is not ROX. Wes. How much do you want for a pound? I have a scale I can bring over. |
Throw this out there....
Anyone in Edmonton who may be interested in going group on a 5 gallon pail and splitting cost equally let me know. I could never use a 5 gallon pail of it in my lifetime. Shoot me a PM. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/...um-carbon.html |
just a note that 5 of the 1g containers is cheaper than a 5g bucket due to volume discounts.
|
Ok maybe not! I do recall noticing that trend for the bulk chems (and I just re-confirmed it with calcium).
|
Pat I'm in if you want to get 2 other people (4 people total) in the 5G pail. We can split the total cost and it would be worth the cost of shipping.
|
Pat, I'd be in for some Rox!
|
Ok. Let's see if we can get 2 more people.
3 pounds each. |
I will take a share.

I'll pm you guys shortly.

Just for the record, the stuff Eli at Caco3 Reef sells is very high quality. Call it what you want but it does work.
|
Marine Aquaria sells it, and it's in Edmonton. I've been using it for the last couple of years. It's sold in .5lb, 1 lb and 15 lb bags. It is the actual ROX carbon.
|
Dez it's the ROX 0.8 extruded?
|
Hey patty, Im in my friend.
Cheers, Chris |

I am thinking this order may be for ROX only.
To simplify things... 15 pounds Rox divided equally between (7 people showed interest) is just over 2 pounds each. Makes easy to just chop the bill and not worry about the rest. 5 of 7 want carbon... 2 others want more. $31.88 = 2.14 pounds. Yes I do have a scale. (if all 7 are interested) Subtotal $169.99 Discount (fast5) $-8.50 Rewards Redemption $0.00 Shipping & Handling (UPS - Retail Orders Over $175 Ship FREE - Canada Standard) $36.18 Tax $25.50 Total: $223.17 Let me know asap. I will order soon. |

I must jump in here & if I **** some one off well............it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out CaCo shipping. Over $100 total order - shipping is free.....if you place an order under $100 you need to contact him for a price. Where it says $11 per lbs free shipping with any other item with free shipping.....simple......$100 of any other product & 1 - $11 pound of carbon....there's no shipping cost. ROX is a BRS name for there carbon from what I can tell & chances are it all comes from the same place. From what I can tell from the bag of CaCo's carbon I am looking at right now it is extruded small pellet form & honestly we all really need to support local vendors. If it doesnt get rust when in use it's good quality IMO. Quote:

Rox is made by Norit Americas. I did a google.

Oh cool thanks, I still like the bigger size of carbon pellets then .8 & it all sounds the same to me, not to mention easier & faster to get from CaCo but to each is to own.

Hello all
not trying to stirrup any wrong dispute everyone is entitled to their opinions about any given product price tagged and used, lets face it we all like to get our hands on the best and highest quality with the lowest price tag (as for me I detail my product test it over and over and give out free samples as I receive it from the manufacturer to get everyone's reply for myself and the rest as we all share a common goal) Most of you who know me on a personal or business level know that I will never carry or promote a product that I don't believe in to place in my reef system. For those of you needing information on the names and product I carry be it ROX1.3 or other you may want to check out my 1st post on Activated carbon under my forum, that should explain what I carry, the quality and the origin of it (www.canreef.com/activated carbon) For those who are interested in the shipping charges We have it posted on every individual page of caco3reef.com/ PHP Code:
And now I am off to try and figure out my pump problem:fadein: |
Yeah I'm not trying to stir anything up either I'm still just confused as you said in that previous thread that this product doesn't come from NORIT. We've seen the demo and we know it's an effective product regardless of its origin. Of particular interest to me (with regards to the BRS ROX 0.8) is the fact that it's extruded. I suspect there's no other product readily available to us with as few fines and this seems to be significant if we consider new studies linking HLLE to carbon fines.
