Edmonton Tank Tour part 3 - timelines now up - please confirm attendance

Hey all.
I was thinking that another tank tour was in order for the edmonton area.
I am thinking Sunday Oct 23, 2011 that way it doesn't conflict with this month's reef meeting.
So, I need a list of people wanting to do the tour and I need a list of about 3 people willing to allow people to invade their homes...lol
people wanting to participate, just state your intention here.
as well, preferably the people willing to show us their setups have a bigger system or equipment that people may find interesting and useful to find out about. I dunno if someone's 10 gallon nano will cut it..lol

first come first serve.
if there are more than 18 (the capacity of my escalade limo), I would just suggest carpooling behind the limo and just switching around with people. that way more people can come.
I suggest we meet at my house around 12 or 1..i have a few tanks setup that will keep people occupied until everyone arrives.
what about dinner after??
let me know what you think.

on another note, apparently I have a big mouth and don't have a problem using it.
if I have offended anyone about things I have said, that wasn't my intention.
apparently, 14 years in the infantry didn't teach me tactfulness.
please accept my olive branch.

another note, I personally would like us to get back to doing reefmeets at home once in a while (maybe every 2 or 3 months) and having a learning session about things...like how to frag corals, make live rock etc...
not that there is anything wrong with the current meetings..i just would love to learn more from the knowledgeable people with a hands on approach.
let me know your thoughts on this as well.

Oilers 09-13-2011 07:32 PM

That sounds like a great idea. Please count me in for the tour. Thanks.

Mechaninano 09-13-2011 07:34 PM

I am interested in all of the above, please keep me updated.

Thanks

fishoholic 09-13-2011 07:35 PM

I'm going to say Chris and I are in too. he's home so I just need to take the day off.

howdy20012002 09-14-2011 02:06 AM

so just to clarify
oilers X 1
Mechaninano x 2
fishoholic x 2
Edmonton newbie x 2
noirsphynx x 2

thats 9 already..woohoo...looks like it is going to be another great tour.
like I said, I don't think we need to cap it as long as people are willing to carpool behind the limo...I am sure not everyone is going to be able to make as life often has that bad habit of getting in the way of our plans..

I can't commit at this time. If I do make it I'll plan to follow behind in my own car.

ALang 09-14-2011 02:55 PM

Lenny + Tim, please!!
And I can offer my tank, but not sure whether it has anything that spectacular or any amazingly different equipment. But you can use my tank as a back-up if you don't get enough offers:biggrin:. Won't bother me either way. It's a 130 gal.

Cool thanks

ALang 09-15-2011 02:41 PM

If we know that the weather's nice, we can have a BBQ at our place. We can easily hold 20 plus people...plus room to move indoors if it gets nasty out.
Sure is a great idea. This way we can get to know a few more people, plus see some nice tanks, too.
Can't wait to see yours, Laurie.
Thanks for offering your limo, Neal, for this trip. Would have gladly car pool for this event, too, if need be.

howdy20012002 09-15-2011 03:37 PM

thanks for the offer about the BBQ and the tank.
for the BBQ, i have been thinking about it and I don't know if I want to include as part of the tour.
some people may have other things to do and if we are in sherwood park and I am their ride it could cause issues.
I think going out for supper or having the BBQ after we come back to my house is the way to go so people can get their cars and either go to dinner with us or go do other things.
the thing about a BBQ, it makes it hard to host something like that and go on the tour at the same time. plus what about costs..it gets expensive to feed 20 people.
I personally feel going out for dinner is the easiest way to deal with the idea.

ALang 09-15-2011 04:16 PM

Not a problem.
Totally forgot about the Limo ride, and that somebody MIGHT have a life besides reefing and all that goes along with it!!
Dinner out should be OK with us, anyone else?? Might need to reserve a table or two if this gets big enough.
Lenny.

ALang 09-22-2011 03:03 PM

+1

reef-keeper 09-22-2011 06:29 PM

Just saw this and thought "What a good Idea, this would be a good way to learn proper plumbing and set up. Then may be I can finish my set up and finally get reefing." I would also need to get an address for the starting point, or just to follow the limo around Please.

howdy20012002 09-27-2011 01:46 AM

bump.
going to spruce grove is not out of the question.
anyone else wanting to invite to your house?

BlueTang<3 09-27-2011 01:53 AM

Yeah we should be here if you guys decide to come out
