Why wont this grow?
http://www.canreef.com/photopost/dat...m/DSC00072.JPG
Had this frag for over a year now, it hasnt done a thing, no matter where I place it. Other sps have moderate growth. Has nice baby blue tips. |
Have you tried snipping a few tips??
Scared to. leaves a spot for algea if tissue doesnt cover it. sides, its never even encrusted.
whats your Ca at Trevor?
last I checked, Ca 430. Alk 9 adding 30ml daily of b-ionic 2 part as well. Like I said, other corals are growing ok (not massive growth, but noticeable) this one, nada. Almost like the darn things ceramic. ;)
How often do you move it?
bout every few months.

Mg???
I find anything that's not green is slow growing.
Glad to hear its not just mine that are going slow. I have two frags like the one you are showing. One of them has encrusted and then stopped growing and the other one hasn't done a thing. My parameters are all bang on as far as growing conditions go so I guess we just need to be patient.
I am with fishytime, what is your magnesium at? I have a similar one in my tank. An ice fire and until I started dosing magnesium, it was like yours, it wouldn't grow.
I've had a few frags like that and they're kinda funny. I found mine to be very picky in EXACTLY where it is. I have a new one similar to that that I literally had to put under my giant Milli where it gets less light but in such a way that it gets a ridiculous amount of flow. Within days of being there it colored right up and started growing.
Aside from that, I have to agree with the Mg idea. |
Never was able to test mag, no mater what brand i used. have a 1 gallon jug of Randy 3 part mag, but dont wanna add it without acurate testing results. could very well be low. i use reef crystals with 25% Bi weekly water changes.
