Goalie Poll

Who to play for game seven

Blom 06-14-2011 10:57 AM

Bobby Lou will, hasnt lost at home in this series.

parkinsn 06-14-2011 11:06 AM

I would like to see Schneider so that Boston can get a quick one on him early in the 1st and blow it out before Van gets any hope.

Chin_Lee 06-14-2011 03:18 PM

Lu has a good home game track record so I vote Lu. Otherwise it would have been Cory

ottoman 06-14-2011 03:22 PM

Lou for sure, same home ice as gold medal.

Good thing too!! Van can have gold.... Boston will be glad to take the Silver stanley cup home with them.

Chin_Lee 06-14-2011 03:45 PM

I personally do prefer and would like Vancouver to win the cup. But I am a very practical person and I believe the cup should go to the BEST team. So realistically, Boston has out-played Vancouver on every stat in this last series and I think Boston has been the better team. So far to date on this series its been 19 goals for Boston vs 8 goals for Vancouver.......but like I said, I will LOVE the Canucks will prove me wrong. GO CANUCKS GO

Bblinks 06-14-2011 03:48 PM

We will have to see what happens tomorrow. My vote is Lou. Game on Boston.

chef 06-14-2011 04:05 PM

As far as Lou winning a gold, I think he almost lost us the gold. He stopped one soft shot in O.T. and relied on no. 87 to score. Choke, choke. The stanley cup should be in Boston but I hope Van wins. Lou is his own boss so of course he will start.

Trigger Man 06-14-2011 04:44 PM

the proper decision should have been to sit Lu in game 6, epecially with his prior 2 games performance at boston, but then again I'm cheering for Boston so it was a great political move by Vancouver.

ElGuappo 06-14-2011 04:59 PM

i would LOVE to see lou melt down and let in 4 in the first period... i hate that guy.....

lastlight 06-14-2011 05:33 PM

Vancouver's been slapped around like little girls. Even though I want the cup to finally come home to Canada I'd almost be embarrassed to see Vancouver have it now.

Lance 06-14-2011 06:41 PM

I've been a die-hard Canucks fan for a long time and win or lose I will continue to be. But I must say I'm ashamed of my team right now. I'm fed up with the diving, mouthing-off to the media, failure to back up team mates, and general lack of back bone shown by the team in this series. Vancouver may very well still win the cup, but it will for me forever have a coating of tarnish.

Samw 06-14-2011 10:23 PM

Gotta start the number 1 string player. If he chokes, then they must make a trade for next season because he's had plenty of years to prove himself.

trilinearmipmap 06-14-2011 11:52 PM

I don't know much about hockey. But it seems Luongo can be brilliant at times but is inconsistent. The backup goaltender is good. What is the point of having a backup goaltender if you don't use him when the number one goaltender isn't performing? And with the home games being so close, if we wait until Luongo lets a few in it won't be any use pulling him after that. Play Schneider, Luongo has had enough chances.

Edmonton newbie 06-15-2011 12:05 AM

start luongo he can stand there with that gaping wickets stance and let 6 or 7 in before they boo him off the ice

+1 I grew up on the island & the team has a history of douche bags & fan base to match, Boston is the better team & hopefully win, but that might cause another riot again. Vancouver is the 40 year old virgin & here's 1 ex-pat of B.C. hoping it stays that way.:twised: Louongo!

Samw 06-15-2011 12:08 AM

Your number 1 goalie is supposed to give you the best chance of winning. If the coach starts Schneider and the Canucks lose, the coach is probably going to get fired. Everyone will be second guessing why the better goalie didn't start the most important game of the season.

If you put in your best goalie and he loses the most important game of the season then there is more proof that Luongo is not the answer and you can make a move.

If Luongo starts, win or lose, there will be no questions for next season (He is either a savior or trade bait). If we start Schneider and Canucks lose, there will be lot more questions than answers for next season about how Luongo would have made a difference.

Hehe, I say, give him a chance to be a hero or a zero. :)

LOL. I just read some of the above comments. Not sure why all the hate. He seems like a nice guy.

silentcivilian 06-15-2011 03:02 AM

Well, nice doesnt cut it in the hockey world I guess haha..

My vote, is play a pylon with equipment on and write lou on its backside. That should do the trick!

AAnnnnddd.. Im fed up with vancouver, there is alot of hate and for good reason. Id like to quote a news article.

"When last we saw the Vancouver Canucks against the Blackhawks some six weeks ago, they were a gutless collection of whining, cheap-shot artists whose best quality was their ability to do their hair while driving to the rink — not to mention hair-pulling after they got there. However, we must confess that with the Canucks in the Stanley Cup Finals, there's been a change. Oh, yeah, they're still a gutless collection of whining, cheap-shot artists whose best quality is their ability to do their hair while driving to the rink — not to mention hair-pulling after they get there. But now they've added biting and kicking. What's next, purse throwing?"

Lets list events that cause this wonderful reputation:
1. Rome vs Horton (headshot)
2. Bieska vs Stalberg (refused to fight)
3. Torres vs Seabrook (headshot)
4. Torres vs Scott (Refused fight after knocking seabrook out)
5. Kessler vs Kane (Headshot)
6. Edler vs Brouwer (Headshot)
7. Hamhuis vs Bolland (Headshot)
8. Burrows vs Bergeron (Biting(Burrows only player I know of that also has been called for hairpulling.. just a sidenote))
9. Burrows vs Thomas (Thomas won fight, but it was instigated by Burrows 3rd slash on the top of Thomas's stick to knock it out of his hands)
10. Sedin vs Marchand (Refused fight.. infact refused to do anything to defend himself)

The list goes on.. I wont mention the Sharks series cause San Jose had as many bad plays as Vancouver to list for cheap shots.. and Nashville had a couple headshots, but they were afraid of Weber.

All in all, Boston has to win game 7, not for them, but for all the legends who fought, bled, scored and won the cup with grace before them.

MMAX 06-15-2011 12:03 PM

Put Luongo, I mean Lebrango in. He won't show up when the series is on the line and the Bruins will have an easier time icing the victory.

@Whatigot :biggrin:;

Which part are you refering to as being false?

Boston has;

More powerplay goals.
More short handed goals.
MORE GOALS PERIOD!!!
More hits.
MORE CANADIANS!!!!!!!!
MORE STANLEY CUP'S
Need I continue?

I guess Vancouver has;

More attendance...??....
Less Penalties in minutes.
More power play oppertinity's... A lot of good that has done you thus far with 2 PP goals this series.

So.... Im sorry which games were you watching?

Chin_Lee 06-15-2011 03:56 PM

Hey I don't disagree the canucks have played really well in many periods. BUT nevertheless, the stats speaks for itself. Its amazing that its a tied series looking at a 19 to 8 goals ratio.

parkinsn 06-15-2011 04:21 PM

The games might be closer than the blowout scores suggest. Don't forget the shots on goal stat. I'd like to see time of possession stats as well before I would say that the Canucks were badly outplayed. Of course I agree that none of it really matters except for games won but I am adding it since stats were mentioned in the conversation.

2 30 33
3 38 41
4 29 38

I was going to bring it up but they are so close, and 3/6 game each beating the other. Whats funny is that the 3rd and 4th blow out's Boston was out shot.

ottoman 06-15-2011 07:43 PM

Numbers do not matter. The one matter is who wins at the end of the game. If you go by history, Canucks may have higher chance to win. Tonight, Canucks only need one more goal than Boston. Who cares more goals, more shots, more hits, etc. Those are just entertainments.

Cheers.

Agree that you need to start your number 1 goalie tonight. Besides, regardless of what happened in Boston, he is a brick wall at home so far. Kind of have to go with that, do you not.
