Alberta Ride For Sight 2 days away & so close to my goal

Hi everyone,

I would like to introduce you all to a fund raising event that is for The Foundation Fighting Blindness. I have been involved for the last 10 yrs as a fund raiser and this year, being my 11th I have taking on the roll of Assistant Chair & Coordinator for the Red Deer area.

This is a motorcycle event open to every level of rider and every make of bike & also anyone who doesn't ride. This years event is being held at the Stoney Nakota Resort & Casino, 30 min west of Calgary on June 11 / 2011. There will be many thing's to take in such as a show & shine, bike games, dunk tank, vendor market place, classic car show, Second Gear Club Trials Show, outdoor beer gardens with a DJ, native interpretive dancers, roast beef dinner in beer gardens, Harley Davidson demo rides, silent auction. There will be entertainment provided by the BLUES BROTHERS REVUE. Lot's of great food, people and fun.

If you would like to attend the event you can simply raise $50 or donate $50 at the event and you are in for the day. If you would like to have a donation book get in contact with me and I will get you the info where to pick one up or I can send one to you.

A little back ground info on Ride For Sight.

Ride For Sight is the single largest private fund raising initiative for vision research in the world. Over the year's, Ride For Sight has grown from a small local fund raising event to a national charity which raises more then $1 million annually and to date has raised over $18 Million. Ride For Sight gives 100% of donations to the Foundation Fighting Blindness & 100% of the money raised in Alberta STAYS in Alberta to fund our researcher's. More info can be found at the following website:

http://www.rideforsight.com/alberta.php

A little info on the event itself

The actual event that we put together is a thank you to all our fundraiser and is ALL paid for by our volunteers that work a Calgary casino every 2 years and by sponsorship from businesses and corporations. Absolutely NONE of the donation dollars are used to pay for any of the event.

I fell very strongly about this event because eye disease can hit anyone at any age of life, right out of the blue. I know without my eye sight my career would be over and would not be able to enjoy the little thing's in life like riding, seeing my kids / grandkid's grow up, see my wife playing with our Huskies and of coarse reefing.

If you would like to make a donation's please use my personal sponsorship page here :

http://my.e2rm.com/personalPage.aspx...336&Lang=en-CA

Any amount of donation from as little as $5 help's greatly. If you need more info e-mail me at grizzwelding@platinum.ca

Thanks to all who take the time to read this. And a HUGE THANKS to all who make a donation.

I am hoping that maybe a few vendors would make a small donation & some friends will drop a 5 or 10 spot on my sponsorship page

Bump to keep it on top

The Grizz 05-26-2011 06:38 PM

Every dollar donated makes a difference, last year I had several donations of $5 each from a bunch of really great high school kids.

The Grizz 05-28-2011 03:49 AM

keeping it on top but sadly no donations from anyone here yet, come on people you could not see your SW tanks if you suddenly started to lose your sight.

ALang 05-28-2011 02:34 PM

I will. Been super busy, and missed this posting later on.
Thanks for the reminder. Let me know how it went!
Lenny.

Could always use more victims for the dumk tank :twised:

ALang 05-29-2011 02:32 AM

Heh heh. Very funny.
I'd probably wipe out on the first try, THEN, if anyone offers to drive, I'd for sure scream all the all to Red Deer!
As for being the Victim for the dunk tank, my Tim is great for doing that.
He's done it numerous times for all sorts of charities.
I was the one buying up all the balls to try and hit the target!:twised:
But yeah, I'll throw some money into the pot. Hope that others will do the same.

The Grizz 05-29-2011 02:36 AM

I do love the dunk tank myself, good clean fun.

Thanks for the support Lenny, much appreciated

The Grizz 05-30-2011 02:31 AM

If you have bikes then you should be coming down to En . Same here Lenny, I have made some of my boy's friends scream like little girls on my 1200 Sporty when we hit around 180km/hr :twised:

The Grizz 06-01-2011 04:05 AM

Another bump, help me out peeps still short of my goal

The Grizz 06-01-2011 06:26 PM

2 members have steped up and made a donation, thanks Lenny & Coleous. Only a couple hundred more members to go, $5 will help and should brake your bank.

Mid day, mid week bump, only 10 days to go.

The Grizz 06-03-2011 01:34 AM

Thirsty Thursday bump, 9 days to go

The Grizz 06-04-2011 12:00 AM

T.G.I.F. Bump and only a week to go. I am 45% of the way to my goal but it sure would be nice to go over.

ALang 06-04-2011 03:40 AM

Come on. Canreefers!
Surely for the price of a snail or two, we can help make this ride a success.
Free pump!

The Grizz 06-05-2011 01:41 AM

Thank for the free bump Lenny & here is one for Saturday.

The Grizz 06-06-2011 02:45 AM

It's now Sunday & only 5 days to go, come now everyone what would you do if you lost some or all of your eyesight & was unable to see your loved ones, life and last of all your SW tanks that you have worked so hard to build.

$5 each from even half of the CanReef community would be very impressive & very appreciated. Please donate to my sponsor page as this charity is one of the best ones going with all money raised going to the cause & not to administrator costs.

Don't think Betty will like being squeezed all the way to Calgary in a death-grip. It'd be like riding with a giant-sized ruck-sac, throwing her balance off.
She'd kick me off the first 30 seconds.
Good luck with this Greg.

 it's really not that bad of a ride on the back of a Harley, Lenny. And thanks again for your support.

And now..........the moment you have all been waiting for............its Monday & time for another..............bump.

Received a $500 donation from Predator Drilling today, have been working for them for the past 2 months & $300 from CCD Western, another company I am currently working on a project for. So with those 2 AMAZING donation I am just under the $2k mark but would like to hit $2500.

Please help out with this great cause.

The Grizz 06-08-2011 02:07 AM

That an awesome sum already, Grizz. Here's hoping that if everyone toss in $5, you'd get to your goal easy!!

The Grizz 06-10-2011 04:49 AM

Thanks Lenny, I have some very generous sponsors that have supported me for several years & I have been the top fundraiser in the Red Deer area for just as many.

Oxymoron 06-10-2011 05:16 AM

Best of luck Greg. Good for you.
Sadly a job popped up this weekend and I won't be available for the good times. I hope everything goes off with a bang.
