New arrival, anyone seen this ??
I picked up this shrimp today. The only thing the LFS was able to call it was "Yellow Shrimp". He had never seen one before. Has any of you ever seen one like it. This is the best I can do for now for a picture. BTW the front of the body is yellow, and the antenea and half of the last four legs are red.

Seen it
Hey Bob,
I have seen them plenty of times, and many have passed through the store, as a matter of fact, there is one in my caulerpa tank as we speak. Nice shrimp, on the next order I am going to get one for my tank. Have a nice day, Nate Big Als Aquarium Services 640-0635 |
Bob didn't you just give a CBS to Alan?

Well I am just wondering what made you get rid of one and then get another. Not that you're not allowed to do that. I was just wondering if perhaps you got bored of the old one or something to that effect. I did think it was a CBS-type shrimp, but looking at it now, I see that it doesn't have the odd body shape of a CBS. So I have no idea.

Secretly Bob likes to constantly change things but not admit it. He just hides behind the lumper image he has acquired.

As for your shrimp, how does Stenopus zanzibaricus sound? The colouring seems to be a giveaway, but I'm not sure about the body shape of your shrimp. Here's a scan from one of my books. http://quinn.rdcpsych.org/fish/stenopus-scan.jpg |
After consulting my slim volume appropriately named "Armoured Knights of the Sea" by Helmut Debelius I have come up with an ID. They are all Boxer Shrimp. The common everyday one is Stenopus hispidus, The picture Sam provided is Stenopus scutellatum from the Caribbean, mine is Stenopus zanzibaricus from the Indian Ocean.

Well that's good that we agree on something.
