Based on what my own little set-up has cost me thus far,...I'm going to hazzard a guess at a little over $100K ...on a side note, Looking at systems like this have really made me want to build a new house sooner than later with a nice built in system...I could see spending 50K easy on the fishroom & systems...It could be my mid-life crisis...who needs a fast littel sports car anyway:lalala: |
My fiance is having a heart attack at me that I want to go so far as to put a plumbed in system in to a wall between two rooms. No separate fish room, no structural changes, and the most elaborate remote built in would be a storage tank to hold R/O water in the basement right below the tank.
I don't even want to think what a system like that would do to the re-sale value of your home, but I guess if you plan on growing old and there it really doesn't matter. My little built in can be removed by simply pulling out the tank and putting up a single stretch of drywall... that thing would probably cost 10's of thousands of dollars just to remove. However, if money truly was 'no issue', I wouldn't think twice about doing the exact same thing, but with an even bigger display (20feet X 5feet baby!) ;) |

probably around 20-30 K Quote:
extremely envious...........thanks for posting that:razz::lol: |
125K is my guess, just the giesemann fixtures would add up to around 25k retail. I know when the time comes I will do the exact same thing. Who needs a sports car when you can have a giant reef tank in your garage. :mrgreen:
|
wow.....what do you get charged for a Giessemann light in BC!:razz:
|
pffff you cant even snorkel in it its only 3 ft deep .
|
Too much plus HST. :mrgreen:

I'm gonna say around $100k as well. Look at those huge tanks, and all the plumbing ! AND.....it's not like most of us where the labour to design and build all this is free, this guy had a company do all of it so there's probably $20k of LABOUR in there and then all the materials.
|
id say 100K just for equipment and then on top of that you have hours of planning, labor and the wood alone to match the rest of the room is about another 20K
|
rich kids and their turn-key systems, guy probably never had a mouthful salt water trying to get the siphon going for the water change.
(yes I'm jealous) |
