What is it????

I have a 30g anemone tank with one very large hermit, 1 large turbo snail and two maroon clownfish.

This morning as I was feeding my fish, I see lots of white dots on the glass. It looks white with a few legs. It is so small that I couldn't take a photo.

Any idea what is it????

Did they look like tiny white starfish? Asterinas possibly?

white dots

if they are soft it could be aptasia-i have a lot of white dots, but they are hard ,in my sump-i don't think they are a feather duster-though i do have hundreds of spaghetti worms in the sump

Thx for the replies. I don't think it is the white star. I have roughly about 200 white dots. They look like little spiders. It has a solid white center which is pretty much a circle shape doesn't look like pods to me either.

Sounds like hydroid jellyfish kinda. how old is the tank?

gobytron 04-21-2011 02:12 PM

I would bet they are tunicates or sponges...

kenman999 04-21-2011 06:21 PM

It Looks exactly like hydroid jellyfish!!!! The tank is set up for a few months but all my live rocks and sand were transfer from a 3 years old tank.

Is it harmful should I remove them?

Aquaria 04-21-2011 06:48 PM

Far as I know from reading they dieoff once there food runs out mine where gone after 5 months give or take

I had them too for a while. Showed up on the glass for a few months and then they just disappeared. Wish the aiptasia would have been as polite.
