Just why exactly is your tank sitting in the snow?
|
Culturing some phytoplankton?

Actually it was part of a mosquito breeding facility this summer. We were hoping to get west nile virus so we could stay home from work  Actually its my roommates old tank from when she upgraded to the one that came with the house. Its been sitting out there for a goodly amount of time. I certainly don't think I would use it now. We'll see if it holds water after everything thaws. I wouldn't imagine an expanding iceblock would be good for the silicone  |
Mosquito larvae culturing was my next guess. I use to have a wine barrel in my backyard full of larvae that I would scoop up and feed to my fish.

Doesn't that mean more mosquitoes around in the summer? |
Christy I am amazed that the tank has not shattered. I personally would speculate that if it hasn't blown out yet, it will be fine if it survives the thaw. Silicone has more elasticity to it than glass.

Not if I scoop them out before they change into adults. |

 I cant bare to look at an empty abandoned tank sittingout with the trash, reminds me of the Ikea commercial with the lamp sitting in the rain
|
While recycling some cans tonight, I noticed that I too have several tanks sitting out in the snow. A 5, 10, 20, and a 75g, buried in white stuff...

No doubt, I was looking for a bigger tank for my turtle (found one though, she should be happy in a 4x2' space).
|
Steve, if you clean the deck, I might just give you the tanks!
