youll need to save that file to your computer and then either attach it here or host it on an external photo hosting site like photobucket.

skabooya 03-15-2011 07:59 AM

I dunno. It looks more like a white box with a red 'x' in the centre of it.

christyf5 03-15-2011 01:29 PM

there you go!

I have no idea but I have it in my tank too, I dont think its bad but it sure is creepy looking

nanochef 03-15-2011 01:39 PM

ya i have about 4 that i can see, some are round with a "vent" hole/tube that looks like those on clams..

christyf5 03-15-2011 01:42 PM

oh Ive never noticed that on mine. theyre all in awkward areas. Its likely a colonial tunicate then, a harmless filter feeder

don.ald 03-15-2011 01:46 PM

do they move around?
look like a spounge

christyf5 03-15-2011 01:50 PM

nope, theyre sessile so theyll stay where they are. parts may eventually break off and float to a new location where a new colony may start. It could very well be a sponge but theyre really dense and slimy so I dunno. I should see it I can find it in my calfo inverts book.

It's the BLOB, run away!

Just kidding, but could it be a sponge. It is wierd looking.

LOL it is kind of like the blob. The first time I saw one I thought it was one of those large flatworms but it never moved. It kind of reminds me of a really tough skinned wet mushroom in texture when you touch it.

CandyCane 03-15-2011 05:37 PM

Maybe a sea squirt, but unfortunetly not one of the pretty ones lol. Or maybe some type of sponge.

Lance 03-15-2011 06:16 PM

Whatever it is, it's one Ugly Mo' Fo!

skabooya 03-15-2011 06:17 PM

looks like a sponge

nanochef 03-15-2011 07:51 PM

definitely slimy like a mushroom.. they dont move, just seem to be getting larger.

matinbc 03-15-2011 08:55 PM

is it a sponge of some sort?

StirCrazy 03-15-2011 11:13 PM

I used to have a bunch of thoes in the darker areas of my old tank. sponges are good filters and also a good indacator of tank health
