icecap wiring
 

i am tryint to finish my diy 8 bulb canopy running 2 icecap 660-009 balasts 4 bulbs each but the diagram i have has 2 wires for each color and the factory harneses only have 1 of each color with some extra colors not very good at wiring was wondering if someone out there could give me some tips or even come over and give me a hand there could very well be beer here for the lucky volunteer :mrgreen: i would really apreciate the help this is like a totally different language to me:confused:

still no replys i had lapdog come over to help but he knows as much as i know so we end up with 1 bulb out of 8 firing still really need help maybe an acro frag could entice someone to step up to the plate and help a fellow reefer out

Maybe post a picture so people can see the harness. I re-wired mine but it was a different ballast.

sounds like you have the wrong harness for a 660. the colors are in pairs for sure:
2 red
2 yellow
2 blue
2 brown
and black, white and green for power

checking on the 440 for you now

440 colors are paired as well, not sure what you have there

its the one that came with it and it plugs right in to the balast

let me know if you want to try and match the wires (colors) at the pins, I can let you know which bulbs they go to on mine if it will help....

the diagram on the balast is the same as the one online and the harness has all the colors in singular with extra wires

remember to remain calm, lol, I've broken a few items in frustration with diy lighting like this

frustrating cuz i have someone elses light and they need it back its crunch time with no good results

one of each i have 2 balasts 2 harnesses and 8 lights hooking up 4 and 4

outside 4 on 1 and inside 4 on the other

My plug is as follows:

Top of ballast

Orange: Blue: Blue: Red: Yellow: Brown: Brown: Purple
Black: Green: White: (Empty): Orange: Yellow: Red: Purple

If your black, green and white match location with mine you could try running your wires as mine from the balast plug and not worry about the color..as long as the power colors match.

Might be worth a try

that's the one I have always used.

I kinda remember a question awhile ago about tan wires, but I think it was an older ballast..

yeah i'm totally lost i need someone that can come here and wire this thing i've tried the phone explanation and the online one and honestly its all greek to me it doesn't make sense to need 2 of one wire and only provide one

you have 15 wires per ballast though correct?

i have 12 and just noticed i need 12 but the diagram says 2 of 6 colors and i have 1 of 12 colors

at a loss now then, does the 12 wires include your power wires (black, white and green)?

can you look at your plug and tell me the color sequence

top row teft to right and
bottom row left to right

k, so you have a 3 by 4 row pin conector? have never seen this config on Icecap 660
all i have seen are 2 rows of 8 pins

thats what came with it i am assuming that because it came with 6' t12 bulbs that it is an old style harnes the balast however looks the same as they do now

i would but canreef wont let me i can tell yiou its the old style from the vho days i have a description on here i think i have a guy coming in a day or so to have a look he has wired a couple icecaps

any luck? I can't find one like your picture anywhere.
