Looks like a farm photo.... chowder? |
Christy: That photo is about 8-9 years old which is why you dont see those ultras anymore. Also the country where they came from no longer allows the export of wild clams.
Apexifd: I sold them to a friend and there was a power failure/heat wave while he was away for the weekend... nuff said. Paddyob: I would never eat a clam but live Crocea with fresh lime is a delicacy in some places. Sometimes when the collector is chiseling a crocea out of the reef flat the shell will get cracked. That's why they always brought limes when they went clam collecting. Have an accident and get a free snack out of it. ;) |
OK I will play again with no chance in winning this one either  ALL PICS TAKEN WITH MY PHONE

Uhmmmm..... I am more interested in your purple zoas to the right side. What are they and how do I get a frag? |
Here are mine when I first got them. Big Squaw and her buddy Lil' Max

Not really an entry since I took this with my phone so the quality is poor but posted for more of just a show & tell. My buddy has had this clam for many years in his 250 gal tank and it's getting pretty big as in about 15-20 lbs. To get an idea of the scale, consider that the powder blue tang is about 4 inches long.

Here's one of mine, it just can't decide on a pattern.

[quote=zoaElite;570659]Wow I know what I will be voting for, where did you pick up this puppy?
I got the derasa from Spencer at Blueworld aquariums and the blue squamosa from Ronnie and Gareth at Progressive Reef, both in Victoria. I also got a wicked Orange derasa, but it's being pretty shy. The purple zoas I got from a local reef store years ago that is no longer in business. The owner got in a shipment of those awful mixed rocks that have zoas and softies glued all together..butt ugly they were, but one had a small colony of those purple zoas.. I talked her into scraping me off one polyp of the purples. |
