powerheads ?

Just wondering what people are using for power-heads/ water movement. i have a 34gal system and finding i may need more water movement

I love the Vortech's, very easy to control and you can so much with them. Well worth the expensive price tag.

Get a MP40W ES and if you ever upgrade, you keep the powerhead and keep using it. But a MP10 is good enough for your size though.

I'm running a MP10 on my 33.. works great & worth the price

Gotta love the vortechs nice gentle, broad flow with a ton of undertow. The control is as well i got multiples on all of my tanks. But on a 33 a mp 10 would do wonders for you.

Depends on how much you want to spend: I love my MP40's, but they are a bucket-full of money. Tunze PH's are good and for a cheaper brand Hydor Korallia are as good as any.

How much do you want to spend? Vortechs are too rich for my blood! I use both Tunze and Koralia. A Koralia would be just fine for your tank. I had a Koralia 2 in a 36" 33g and it was a good size for that tank.

Just set up a tunze 6205 worth over 500$ and bang for the buck i should have just ordered 3 more magnum 8's. expensive powerheads are a waste of money IMO.

koralias in my tank never had any problems(2 yrs).

How many vortechs or tunzes have you heard, putting stray current into the tank?......and magnum 8s are the size of a football!

it really depends on what your specific need are......vortechs are great for the broad flow, undertow, cool programs, sheer power and easy of adjustment.....the one drawback of them is you cant point them.....

tunzes dont quite have all those other features but the big draw is that you can point them where you need to and you get more mounting options(can mount one to an internal overflow if you want)

someone should really find a way to combine the two.....I personally use both:wink:

I used 1 Koralia 2 in my 25g nano (plus HOB skimmer) and there was plenty of flow with no algae or cyano growth. I have three of them in my 90g that I set up this summer and so far so good. I got all three from a fellow canreefer for a really good price. I would love a vortech but just can't justify the price if what I have is already working well for me.

I have the tunze 6055's and I like the pulse setting but you don't need it. Look into the 6045's, they are flow adjustable up to 1190gph (i believe), and are under $100 each. I love the vortechs but there are other options out there that don't hurt the wallet as much

+1 on the 6055's they are an awesome powerhead for a smaller tank, I have one in my 27 Gal and they are great! They are actually around the $225 mark but still a good value. You can't beat the quality of Tunze products. I do have two of the MP40w ES PH's in my larger tank and I wouldn't give them up for anything.
